Travelling from Glacier National Park to Theodore National Park we stayed with Susan in this lovely B & B .Admittedly it is in a remote place only 400 souls live here but Susan is a lovely hostess, the room we stayed in was charming as is the schoolhouse with a game room downstairs, Breakfast is a good one and Susan is an interesting escapee from Los Angeles. In the evening we took a stroll down to the lake which is nearby and Susan's garden is full of goafers which in itself is entertaining.Treat yourself to a stay here if in the area you will love the experience.

This location is a great place to begin an east to west tour of the Going To The Sun Road through Glacier, and we made it on the last day the road was open in 2012. Susan welcomed us after driving from Billings and made reservations at The Lighthouse for us. Note that 3rd street is not on the highway, so turn off by Froggy's! We stayed in the Snow Goose room and were pleased with everything. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests and watched SEC football in the recreation room. Breakfast was excellent. My wife liked the ecclectic school house decor with all the decorated lunch boxes. We would return. There are accommodations for hunting dogs too.

After the Grand Union Hotel in Fort Benton, Montana, this is the best bed and breakfast or small hotel choice between Helena and the Canadian border and Glacier National Park and North Dakota. Located in an old stone school house in the remote town of Valier, this prize of a well operated B&B is worth your stay. Located near a lake with the sounds of birds chirping, one gets to see beautiful sunsets over the outline of the Rocky Mountains to the west. The bedrooms are spacious, nicely decorated and full of history...as are the common rooms in this historic building. Great mattresses, pillows and linen makes for a great night's sleep. A good breakfast awaits you in the morning. There are two decent restaurants in town for lunch and dinner...and interesting sites nearby Valier to make this a great stay in northern Montana.

Exceptionally comfortable. Welcoming. Innkeeper is lovely, honest and a bit of a character. Breakfast was exceptional. Motorcycle friendly. The old school is amazingly restored w taste and a touch of whimsy. You'll love it.

If you visit Glacier National Park, enter the Park from St Mary as the main viewpoints are at this side and you have the best chance of parking at the very busy Logan's Pass area. Also, plan your stay so that you can spend at least one night at this very special place. The school is very tastefully furnished with every room having something of interest to inspect. Our Snow Goose bedroom was beautifully appointed with two queen four poster beds and a variety of other very interesting features. Breakfast was a delight, nicely presented and lots of it.

What we liked most of all was the peacefullness - listening to the "hush."

Breakfast was a delight

Room Tip: For couples, the Snow Goose

This is a unique place to stay on your way up to Glacier and the Canadian Rockies. Coupled with an evening meal at the Lighthouse followed by a 3 course breakfast in the morning, it is worth the drive off I-15. The establishment is a good mix of old fixtures with tasteful updates to make for a comfortable lodging experience.

The owner of the Stone School Inn has turned this old school house( built in 1911) to a new and old theme. We were greeted as if we were family. The entire Inn is spotless. Our room was a good size with our own private bath.
The breakfast is delicious. You didn't go away hungry. Plenty of coffee, tea and juice.
I wish we could have stayed longer but we were only there one night. If we ever have to travel in this area again we will sure make our stay at the Stone School Inn.
This bets any commercial hotel/motel. I would recommend this B&B to all my friends and family.

Room Tip: I believe I have said it all in the above paragraph.
