“Who knew??”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

On a trip to Canada, we found ourselves in Shelby for the night. After looking at numerous reviews, we decided we would try this place. Driving up, we really wondered if we made the right choice but ventured in. While not the most cosmopolitan decor, we sat down to a nice clean table and decided to split a prime rib. Wow! What a wonderful piece of meat!! We're from Nebraska and I'd like to think I know a good piece of beef and this was it!! Perfectly cooked, the right amount of marbling and a generous cut. Definitely one of the gems of our trip and worth seeking out!!

“Best Steaks in the Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

We ate at this place twice in one week it was so good. The prices may seem a little high for such a little place out in the middle of no where, but you get your money's worth in quality and quantity. I had the sirloin the first time and we went back for the Prime Rib the second time. Prime rib is only offered on Fridays, and you have to make a reservation. We called in the afternoon on Thursday and got a 6pm reservation for the next day. The prime rib is offered slow roasted and blackened, both were delicious. Both times the steaks were cooked to perfection, tasty and delicious. The green beans on the side were perfectly done. I think the salad dressings are homemade, they sure do taste it. I had to take a doggie bag home both times, and it was still a great steak even reheated. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My mother in law had the fried chicken and said it was the best fried chicken she'd ever had. If you want a great meal head on down to the Frontier.

“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Great service, great tasty home style food! What more can you ask for in a little hidden gem of a steakhouse. The ten mile drive east of Shelby is worth every second for the great food. I had a steak sandwich with a fresh green salad to start and a burger with mushrooms for hubby with the house made beef noodle soup to start. Soup was one of the best we have had with big chunks of beef and a broth that was not salty - a rare find in soups. Enjoyed it all!

I was by myself and had a delicious dinner, good service, especially recommend the soup! I decided to go there because of the reviews on trip advisor and I was very pleased.

“Beautiful steaks - worth the detour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

A recommendation from the Sherlock Motel, Shelby, whose owner rang to book us a table, this was quite a find. Frequented by locals and on the Sunday evening we were there a coach party, the filet mignon was melt-in-the-mouth, the soup less inspired, and the apple dumpling highly delicious and calorific. As other reviewere have said, it is not cheap - about $75 for two.
