“A place to rest”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

The bed was good, sheets and towels were clean. The room and wardrobe had a strong smell of cheap cologne, so it leaves one wondering how much concern they have to provide a quality room. The "continental breakfast" was less than weak.

The owners did not appear nor sound as if they were from this country, and I think they need to learn our culture here to be able to improve this business. They are probably fortunate that there is little competition.

Room Tip: Balconies are only available on the second floor, so if you want any outdoor space you won't get...

the accommodations Red Lodge has to offer, and unless you require an early jump to Bear Tooth Pass and/or Yellowstone, I would recommend staying in Billings.

Unknown to me beforehand, the Lupine is a throw back to motel accommodations from the distant past. If you are into that, this may be the place for you! Personally, I prefer something more contemporary.

The Lupine is a clean and adequate accommodation, but, the price you pony up for what you get is clearly out of whack in my book. Be advised that If you elect to stay in Red Lodge, you will pay for it. Apparently people do not mind this as the "no vacancy" sign was lit both nights we were there. Stayed in late June and it was OK...But, I will stay in Billings (as I did each night before and after my stay in Red Lodge) in the future where more modern accommodations exists...With more reasonably priced rooms to boot!

Price included a made to order breakfast...which was a nice touch, but honestly, hotels/motels in Billings do likewise...With better accommodations and room rates.

The hotel looks very uninviting from the outside and we we were not that impressed from the inside. The room itself was fine and we did not experience the problems reported by previous guests on trip advisor. Breakfast was spartan and nothing to write home about. We pre booked our room so were committed but given a choice we would probably stay elsewhere. We really like Red Lodge and we will come back. Unless we see some better reports on TA we'll not return. The people who run the place need to think hard about the future of this hotel.

Did not have a good feeling as soon as I walked in but had a reservation so we thought we should give it a chance. Once we pulled back the covers and discovered dirty sheets on the beds we went to the front desk to report it. The person asked us to "show her" instead of "I am sorry, we will take care of that for you". The toilet did not flush, the place felt dirty, certainly not where we wanted to sleep so we left and found a much nicer place to stay.

Sheets dirty, toilet wouldn't flush, staff said "Show me." Staff didn't seem surprised or concerned by the complaints. The side door did not close properly, key was not needed to get in and out so the building was not secured. We left and found clean and friendly lodging at the Alpine Lodge.

We stayed one night and that was enough. The place seems to be rather run down and in need of some updating. There is a work-out room, but I wouldn't plan on using it as the equipment looked old and the seats were split. The walls are thin and the rowdy bikers in the next room were up until 3 am....the best I can say is that the beds were comfy and the shower was adequate.

After a long day touring from Yellowstone Park we decided to stay in Red Lodge. The room was clean and adequate. The check in was ok and staff friendly enough. We checked in and went off to dinner downtown and came back late. The layout of the hotel is not like any I have seen before. There is a trick step on the back entrance that almost tripped me so look out for that.
Every thing else was Ok until the next morning. The was no DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door so we could not put one out. The next morning we were awakened at 8 or so by a cleaning man who wanted to clean the room. We sent him away but he came back again around 9 or so and was a bit unfriendly. Another cleaning person came back at 10 or so when we were almost ready to leave. My wife was not amused. We protested to the man at the front desk about this and got an apology but we did lose some sleep over this.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a Do Not Disturb sign on your door... And tell the front desk not to disturb earl...
