“What a great experience for six ladies on a "girls weekend"!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

We had a flat tire on the way to dinner but made it on time for our reservations! While ordering drinks from our waitress, Laurel, we mentioned our tire woes. Laurel went out of her way to try to find help for us before we were to leave town the next day. Our food was fabulous too! I had prime rib and it was so tender and tasteful. My garlic mashed potatoes could have been warmer but they tasted really good! We shared creme brûlée for dessert and it too was very good. When it was time to leave, we went into the lounge to watch a basketball game on TV. The bartender was so nice too. He brought in a small space heater for us when we mentioned that we were chilly. We had a great time bantering with him. As it turns out, he was Laurel's husband! What an asset to Old Piney Dell that couple is! Great food and customer service! Thank you for a great evening!

“Delicious in the mountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Piney Dell has a mountain cabin atmosphere overlooking Rock Creek. We had a nice view of the creek while snow was falling. The Walleye was grilled, moist, flaky and delicious. My wife had trout without bones baked in parchment paper with leeks, carrots, snow peas and crab. We had lava cake for desert. Piney Dell is well worth the drive out of Red Lodge.

“Mediocre food for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We are in the area for two weeks and had looked forward to this visit, but it did not live up to expectations. I had a daily special of chicken with tortellini in a "creamy sauce". There was not much sauce in evidence. This dish was very dry and tasteless, and too expensive at about $24. My husband's veal schnitzel was OK - the accompanying potatoes were over-salted and over-garliced. The red sauerkraut was obviously out of a can. Service was OK and friendly enough. We shared a bottle of wine. The bill was over $100. Not good value. If we had been in a larger city I would have given it only a rating of 2. The bar area was busy with a country singer who was pretty good - good acoustics, fun singer, good crowd, friendly bar-tender.

“The best steak ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

I just ate the most delicious steak I ever had at the Old Piney Dell. It was a flavorful tenderloin served with mashed sweet potatoes and an al dente side of green beans and red onions. The waitress was fantastic, providing exceptional service. I eat here every time I stay at the Rock Creek Resort and the food and service are always outstanding.
