I reserved a suite to have a romantic getaway and was disappointed with the lack of value for the money spent. Although large, our room was expensive ($170). Two murphy beds and a pullout couch. The kitchenette was a nice touch, as was the deck overlooking the creek, but the furnishings were older and worn and the amenities simply weren't worth the money. I felt like we were staying in an older cabin - not a resort worth that much money. There was a jacuzzi tub with a shower head - at knee level. No shower/shower curtain. I literally took a shower kneeling in the tub. We were not informed of a continental breakfast. However, we were encouraged to eat at the restaurant on site because "they need the business". The staff certainly wasn't interested in whether we enjoyed our stay or if we needed anything. Although it's in a nice area, I'm wishing that I had stayed elsewhere.

While the location of the Rock Creek Resort is definitely beautiful, we were somewhat disappointed with the quality of the rooms. We booked a king room with jacuzzi tub, however the furnishings were worn and had seen better days, the bed was hard, and the carpet was old and stained in several places. Fortunately we paid only half of what the room normally goes for, however if we HAD paid full price, we probably would have wanted our money back. The continental breakfast consisted of coffee, a few bite-sized muffins, and some yogurt - not worth getting up for. We probably would not stay here again...

  • Liked — The scenery was beautiful.
  • Disliked — The rooms are overdue for a renovation.

The Rock Creek Resort is an amazing hotel that is located 5 miles outside of Red Lodge, MT. It sits at the base of the Beartooth Mountains and is right on the scenic Beartooth Highway.
The resort has several different accommodation options including the Beartooth Lodge, Twin Elk, Grizzly Condominiums, the Rock Creek Town Homes and the Stoney Cabin which was being used as a honeymoon cabin when were there. Each of the buildings have wonderful views either of the pond out front or rock creek and the mountains in back. The prices range from $ 115 for a standard room with 2 queen beds to $ 355 for the town home. We stayed in a studio apartment that was around $ 130, it had a kitchenette a murphy bed, pull out couch and an amazing balcony. The only recommendation I would make is that if you would stay there and you have more than 2 people request a room with 2 beds. Kerry said that the Murphy bed was comfortable, but the pull out bed had a mattress that was pretty thin and it was not the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. I would recommend avoiding the pull out mattress if possible.
The resort had 2 restaurants on grounds the Old Piney Dell and Kiva. We ate at the Old Piney Dell, the menu is not that varied but we were able to all find something we liked. It wasn’t the cheapest place we ate on vacation with prices ranging anywhere from $ 16.00 for chicken to $ 27.00 for a filet. The food was very good though.
The resort also has a very nice indoor swimming pool and a hot tub that also looks out on rock creek. Overall, I was very pleased with Rock Creek Resort and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

  • Liked — The views and the balcony.
  • Disliked — The pull out bed

This is our second time at this resort, and because of recent bad reviews in this forum, I almost didnt book this time! We decided to risk it, and now I believe that someone must be intentionally targeting this property.

Our room was clean, with beautiful surroundings, well maintained grounds, helpful staff, and the location positioned us for a great start towards Yellowstone via Beartooth Parkway!

Our dinner was very good as well... as it was the first time we stayed here.

It is an older resort in a small town in a remote location in Montana... it is not a Ritz Carlton, but then who expects it to be?

This resort is a nice place to stay and has character.
