“Remote retreat that restores the soul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

The Ranch is a reculsive juvenator of the soul. The staff is young and friendly, the surroundings are jaw dropping beautiful. We had never heard of it until recommended by friends; now we'll go back many times.
We went just after Labor Day, which is just after "high season" that brings lots of families. Our kids were back in school; it was a peaceful "reconnecting" experience.
The menu options at dinner are a bit liimited, but the food was great and service warm and friendly.

My family and I just returned from our six day stay at the ranch...it was an unforgettable experience for both the adults and the young children. The staff did an excellent job catering to the children and the activities for the adults were great. The food was Wonderful and the Chef Josh and his staff did an amazing job catering to my son's food allergies. We highly recommend The Ranch at Rock Creek.

My wife and I just spent a week and are blown away. The experience is one of the kind and top notch from the slightest details to the overall. I am so impressed by the interior and exterior work and decoration of the buildings, the infrastructure and the grounds. It is obvious that no expense has been spared and the quality of everything is unbelievable. All these details create an atmosphere that is one of a kind. We mostly roamed the hills on horseback (we are avid riders) and the hills, mountains, trails and views are amongst the most beautiful I have experienced.

The managers Maja and Thomas are extremely professional and talented hoteliers and the nicest people who entertained guests at cocktail hour. The easy going, highly appreciated cowboy mentality of the staff in general was great and everything we wanted was easily arranged. Like a packed picknick for our horse ride, lunch brought to the pool area etc.

Also the stables-staff where so nice. Again, very good at what they do. The horses are in good shape and all healthy and perfect for the job at hand.
All the activities are fun and focused on enhancing the outdoor experience of this beautiful property. Going kayaking on the nearby Georgetown lake was an activity I can really recommend. The lake is just stunning.

The food, in my opinion is world class. Living in France and being a gourmet I appreciated the freshness and interesting light dishes we were served. The servers where great to. The saloon with cowboy saddle barstools, dozens of different Tequilas, karaoke, bowling and cinema is a scream and we had so many fun nights there interacting with the other guests.
All in all this is a world class establishment, a perfect relaxing vacation where nothing lacks and everyday is a wonder of perfection.

Room Tip: The Glamping tents are definitely my favorite. We stayed at the Rainbow.

Can't say much that hasn't already been said here, but I can say this vacation met ALL my expectations.

The place is incredibly beautiful, with accommodations that are fantastically well-appointed. The food, wine, beer, etc. was all outstanding. The activities were all fun, with knowledgeable and personable guides for everything.

The staff here will go out of their way to accommodate you. Whatever you want, just ask for it, and they'll try to make it happen. In fact, my guess is that the staff / guest ratio has to be one of the highest in the industry. There is always someone ready to look after you and they are all unfailingly polite and engaging.

There's so much to do here, you'll feel guilty trying to work in a little down time, but an afternoon on your porch overlooking the creek with a good book is worth the time. Also, early morning coffee at the canteen, sitting next to the fire pit when the temps are still quite cool is an outstanding way to start your day. Just sitting outside next to a fire, with a good cup of coffee, and the scenery around you is worth the trip.

Yes, it's expensive. Get over it and go have fun. The worst part of the trip is leaving!

Having only ever ridden a horse once in my life before, and really not enjoying it, to say i was apprehensive about the Ranch holiday is an understatement! However, why i was concerned i'll never know. This place is knock-out.
This isn't any old ranch, it's pure luxury, in the most amazing location, simply breathtaking.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Each day we could choose what we wanted to do in terms of activities - horse riding, shooting, archery, walking, fly-fishing or cycling. And everyone gets their own guide (or cowboy), so what would cost around £500 a day in the UK for a professional gilly for fly-fishing is included here! And as for the riding, well i went out twice, and even cantered (i think!) once.
Oh and the food - best i've had in a 'hotel' for a long long time.

Room Tip: We had a trapper tent. The bathroom facilities are not in the tent so it's not ideal, but the co...

My family and I have been lucky enough to travel the American West for years. We have stayed in true rustic ranches and fine hotels but this tops the list by far. If you love authentic western antiques and decor, true attention to detail in every aspect, genuine service and an extraordinary setting... book now. Luxury bedding, high end gift shop, wonderful food with a genuine atmosphere. The ranch gives you the feeling you are in an historic ranch remodelled but still authentic. great for families or couples . We will make this an annual destination.

I visited this ranch for 2 years and the scenery and the staff were wonderful. We went the first years that they were open during a week when we were the only paying guests. The Staff was wonderful and the lodge and activities were were first class. Some of the things were not open yet and they were still building the physical plant including the pool. The horse facility has bought some better horses for novices which they had very few their first year.I really enjoyed the wranglers which have been replaced with some of the English Taught riding staff. I am glad to see they did keep some local wranglers which MAKE the whole WESTERN experience. The Owner had looked for a place for over 20 years and the Place that he found has some of the most beautiful scenery that you will see out west.
The Lodge rooms are decorated over the top and are kept sparkling.
My main activity is riding and if you ride everyday and stay for a week like we did both times , you will ride the whole area. The Ranch did really accommodate us with some off-ranch riding adventures that were first rate.
They have a lot of other activities like sport shooting, paintball, archery, and fly fishing. All of these have very professional staff to assist you. You are also given a bike which I enjoyed going from the Lodge to the Barn daily.
We have visited about 15 ranches and was told that we would be given a discount off our nightly rate after our stay last year if we decide to return, like most other ranches do, for loyal customers. I was disappointed that they didn't honor when I called this year to take advantage of this. For this reason, We decided to go to another ranch on Gene Kilgore's list this summer
