“Great location and beautiful view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Great hotel situated right on the river, really pretty. Watched bald eagles from the porch in our room. Overall the hotel is nice but the building is older though well maintained and has good bones. The restaurant is nice situated over the river but their breakfast menu is very limited. Overall an excellent hotel for the price and they were also dog friendly which is always a plus for me and the pups!

We've known this hotel for 40 years. It's a great place if you want to stay in Missoula for several days. It's a short walk to the University and downtown. It's a nice stroll along the river. It's a good place for family gatherings, since it offers good value.

This hotel is just across the river from the UM campus - very convenient to events. My ONLY complaint is that crossing traffic to get to campus can be tricky if traffic is busy - not something hotel staff can change. The hotel was spotless, the staff was friendly and efficient. My room was upgraded to one riverside - I had the company of a beautiful heron and some ducks on the river. It was quiet and quite pleasant.

The room was actually larger than most hotel rooms. The beds were very comfortable. The view of the river running along side of the hotel was so peaceful.Absolutely the best place to stay in Missoula, MT.

This hotel sits on the Clarke Fork river directly across the river from the University of Montana. It is a great hotel with nice large rooms and a very friendly staff. It also has a great place to dine within the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Missoula.

Room Tip: Might to worth it to pay a bit more to get a riverfront room!

We stayed in mid October 2013 for 2 nights in a king room facing the river. The small patio had 2 chairs and it was nice to leave the door open to hear the water with nice cool clean air. There really wasn't accessibility from the patio to the river however. It was river rocks and boulders to the water, no path or walkway. You had to find the path from the parking lot area or walk down the adjacent road. The property is located very close to campus, just a short walk, as well as to a hiking trail. Nice scenery and quiet overall. Convenient to downtown area as well. The hotel itself is older and shows some wear on the exterior. The rooms and inside hall areas were dated but clean. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Room and bathroom were clean. Hotel staff friendly, maid service timely. We paid $170 night which we felt was pricey for the accommodations but having not been to Missoula before we have no other property to compare it to in town. I would stay there again but look for a lower rate and likely wouldn't pay the extra for the river view room. Missoula is a nice town with friendly people and a beautiful location. Worth seeing if you are in the area!

Unlike some reviewers, I did not have a nice view of the river, but someone has to stay in the rooms on the other side of the hall! While the view of the parking lot wasn't that great, at least there was a small balcony to sit out on to enjoy the fresh air, which I liked. If you want to at least experience the river view, then eat in their restaurant. It was nice to see people jogging and fly fishing while having breakfast - and the food's good too. My suite was very roomy, complete with a full-sized couch and a comfortable king-sized bed. Mini fridge, work desk, and spacious bathroom made this probably the best Doubletree room ever for me. The pool being outside was a bummer, as it was too cold to swim; they should really consider installing an enclosure so it can be used year-round. Exercise room was above average compared to other Hilton brand hotels. Free shuttle service to and from the airport is an added bonus, and the drivers were just as friendly as the rest of the staff, who definitely make the effort to have guests feel welcomed.
