“Very Impressed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2011

Great place. Room was large and the beds were very comfortable. Easy access off the main roads and a close drive to shopping.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2011

This is our second stay at this hotel. We enjoyed it so much the first time, we were excited to return, but were disappointed this time. Our room was upgraded to the Junior Suite with a view of the parking lot. I have to say the room itself was excellent, a comfy bed, lots of space, well decorated with a very comfortable couch, chairs, and an excellent computer desk. The view wasn't the best, but at least there were mountains in the distance. The bathroom was beautiful, with granite countertops and tile flooring. However, for such a nice suite, there were some things that didn't live up to our expectations. First of all, the toilet tissue roll was left almost empty, with no spare in sight. After digging around I did find a spare roll in a cabinet, but why leave an almost empty roll there in the first place? The toilet tissue itself was very scratchy, and seemed to be bottom of the line, something I would not expect in a hotel as nice as this one. When I needed a Kleenex, I found there were exactly TWO tissues in the box and then it too, was empty.

My daughter and her boyfriend joined us the next morning for breakfast, and we ordered room service in our suite. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and we were all very pleased with the meal. As we were eating our breakfast, we heard someone wiggling the handle on our door, then we heard the buzzing of the automatic lock as the door opened. One of the housekeepers stepped in, saw us, said, "Ohhhhhh" and then turned around and disappeared. No apologies, she just left. All of us looked at each other and agreed that was very strange, as at every other hotel where we've stayed, housekeeping KNOCKS first, and loudly identifies themselves to give you a chance to let them know that the room is still occupied. It was 8:45am and we had not checked out, so why the housekeeper thought that room was vacant and just walked in is beyond me. At least we were dressed and eating our breakfast.

We don't know if we will return to this hotel the next time we visit Missoula. We love the Finn & Porter Restaurant, and love the space in the Junior Suites. However we don't want to have to bring our own toilet tissue and Kleenex and hope the housekeeper stays out of our room until we check out. We are going to call this to the attention of the managers and hope they will take care of it. If we do return, we hope it will be as pleasant as the last time we stayed here.

We visit Missoula frequently to see a child at UM. Usually we stay out by the big box stores. This time we decided to stay near the University - Doubletree is just across the bridge.
As we waited to check in we heard others being asked what floor they'd like to be on. We were not asked. We were placed in a 1st floor room. There had been an attempt to update it - granite countertop in the bath, flat screen tv, etc. But the tile was falling off the shower wall, we had a terrific view of the parking lot (the hotel sits on a river edge - hence the "Edgewater" in the name) and we could hear EVERY sound from both the room next door and the room above.
Friends happened to be staying the same night and they said they had a nicely remodeled, quiet room on the 3rd floor.
I can only surmise that because we booked through Expedia we got a "lesser" room. This was a Friday night in January, when UM was not in session, so the hotel was not full.

The rooms have been newly carpeted and the bathroom floors tiled. Granite counter tops in bathroom and vanity area. Rooms are good size. Wi-fi was free. Fresh, hot cookies at check-in. Beds are comfortable. The hotel was full but we did not hear much noise. The hotel is old but has been kept current.

I stayed in this Doubletree hotel in Missoula and became an instant fan of the entire Doubletree chain. They really know how to take good care of their customers. The location of this hotel is exceptional though. The scenery is breath-taking... and I was only sorry that I couldn't have stayed longer. Also, who doesn't love the Doubletree's chocolate chip cookies????

time off with gal pals. We had a room with a view of the river. Got food delivered to room and then ate at the restaurant. A waiter named Brian was so nice and made our dinner fun. Food was good. Stayed two nights and it was a blast. Walked the river walk and hit all the antique shops. LOVE this place.

Spent the night here with my spouse. Upgraded to a riverside room with patio door and balcony. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room was very large and clean. Beds were very comfy and room was spotless.

Outdoor pool and spa were nice and area was also kept clean.

Hotel is just across the river (walking distance) from the campus (go see it!).

Only complaint is HiltonHonors Diamond Level breakfast benefit is a $10 allowance at the hotel's restaurant and only one item (granola, yogurt and fruit) is under $10. Coffee and juice are extra. It isn't a true free breakfast as indicated in the Hilton program. Service in the restaurant was not as good as at the hotel's front desk-they seemed rather distracted.

Look forward to returning to this property!
