Upon driving up I was a bit concerned, even with all the positive reviews. It doesn't look terribly attractive. We had reserved a large room with two kings and ended up in 262 on the creek side, above the pool. I was a bit worried about pool noise but it wasn't an issue. The pool is COLD however. There are a lot of Cottonwoods on the property and my husband ended up clearing some of the cotton out of the pool with the mesh scoop. Otherwise, the pool was clean. We didn't get to try the hot tub overlooking the creek but it looked lovely. It's removed from the pool, on the other side of a building, which is a little odd. It would have been nice to jump right in there after the cold pool.
The room was indeed large. The two kings, a desk, a storage area, and a recliner. Having a recliner was pretty cool. The bathroom/kitchenette/closet area was divided with two sinks, one in the bath with the shower and commode, which was very convenient so we didn't have to turn on the main light in order to use a sink. The other sink was next to a coffee maker, hair dryer, and an area with a microwave and mini-fridge that even had a minute freezer. There was also an ironing board and iron.
Wireless internet worked reliably and was fairly fast.
Towels were on the thin side and a bit scratchy, but lacked that bleach smell that so many motels have. Pool towels were tiny, but at least they had them. They had the standard low end hotel polyester bedspread, and the carpeting is of the cheap variety.
It was nice to sit by the creek and relax. It's quite pretty. Watch for dog doo though as people seem to disregard the signs about where dogs are allowed... and then not pick up after them. Ick! Hearing the creek from our room was quite lovely too.
The location is pretty good for getting back into downtown. Reserve can get a bit backed up but we had no problems on the freeway. It was about a 10 minute drive at dinner time on a Friday night from the hotel to dinner at Finn and Porter in the Doubletree.
Breakfast is indeed above average. It's hot, plus the standard cold stuff, for one thing, with a few different things each day (we only had breakfast there twice). Non-canned fruit and the addition of yogurt would be nice. There are a number of teas, including herbal, you might need to ask. It's not as good as going across the freeway to Cracker Barrel or trying a local place downtown, but it's way better than most, and included with your room. It's nice to tip the helpful woman who works the breakfast room. We didn't try the soup or other snacks that are offered some nights.
Watch for mosquitoes in the open air hallways and stairwells. At least right now, this June.
Overall, pretty good value, especially for such a large room, and the creek is a big plus.
