“Fort Lolo Tail Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2008

Visited briefly, looking for Lewis and Clark memorabilia. The Trail Center, a cluster of cabins and a reception hall, while a bit rustic, is well presented and provided a pleasurable visit. It should not be confused with the Hot Springs next door.
- - the downside is, no dining facilities.

Do not stay here in the winter. The heating units in the room are ridiculously loud and dry. The place also smells. My girlfriend and I stayed here on the last night of a 6 day trip to hot springs around the state, and this was by far the worst. It was also the most expensive. There is only one small indoor pool to soak in, and it is only open from 10am-10pm (no morning soak). The woman seemed to take pleasure in stating that we had to pay extra to use the outdoor pool, which was far too cold for swimming anyway. After a poor evening, upon checkout at 9:30 am the next morning, there was not even any coffee. Again, the woman seemed to take pleasure in telling us that we could either wait 25 min and she would make some (grudgingly) or we could go to the bar next door - and pay some more. You can do much better than this in beautiful montana.

We stayed at the resort the 7th & 8th nights of our 11 day motorcycle trip. The resort is actually an RV park that rents out cabins, tent spaces and yes, Teepees! We had cabin #4 which had a double bed bunk bed, a futon, fridge, microwave, bathroom with shower and a small tv with satellite service. We were also given passes to the hot springs pools (directly across the street). This is a rustic retreat in a beautiful location. It was actually fine...staff very friendly there and at the pools & restuarant next door. There is a stream in the park that we waded which was very fun too. My only complaint was that our cabin was not very clean, I actually mopped the floor and cleaned the windows etc when we arrived, but maybe that is because dust gets in when the cabins are closed up (?) We would stay here again, but would just not be expecting a "resort" like lodging.

  • Liked — Location, Staff Friendliness, Things to do
  • Disliked — Cabin a little dirty

After a long day's drive our family of 4 was looking forward to our stay at Lolo Hot Springs. It was unfortunant the rooms were outdated and smelled musty and moldy. The establishment tried to cover the odors with more cleaning supplies and room spray. It was terrible - so we asked for a refund as our room was unliveable. Due to their 48 hour cancellation policy - we were denied a refund. We live and learn and it was our $90 mistake.
