“Great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Don't be scared on the outside! It's a great place to grab a bite to eat! The pizza was amazing and the beer was cheap! You walk into saloon doors with sawdust and peanut shells on the ground. Very family friendly. The kids had a blast! The prices were great too!

“Peanut allergies beware!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

If you are allergic to peanut's then stay as far away from this place as possible but if peanut's are no concern for you then you have got to go.

With just a sign out front that says "Saloon", it is a place that could easily be passed by but step in for a delightful experience. We entered from the alley entrance and I felt almost like I was entering a secret bar of the underground. It seemed very dim till your eyes adjusted and there was a layer of what seemed to be sawdust on the floor. We soon realized that it was a layer of crushed peanut shells. For me this was a new experience but for some of you it could be a step back to a time when they sold shell your own peanuts at bars and the shells were just tossed to the ground. It was fun to eat peanuts and enjoy a pint while waiting for our meal to come. The kids enjoyed throwing the shells on the ground too.

We discovered very quickly that this place did not have any one coming to the table to take an order and that it was all self ordering at the bar or kitchen window. This was fine with us and seemed to allow things to run very smoothly. After ordering your food there is a waitress that brings it to your table. Everything is pay as you go. Drinks paid at the bar as they are poured for you and food payed at the kitchen window as orders are placed. You do not need tons as it is not an expensive place but make sure you have cash. It will make the purchase of your food and beverages much easier. Not sure if they even take anything else but cash.

What they had on tap was excellent. Many great beer selections to choose from and servings are about a 1/2 pint for $2. The smaller servings allowed for the tastings of a couple of different kinds of beer.

For food other then the peanut's, they offer salads, sandwiches and their best seller, pizza. The pizza's sell for around $13 depending on what you want on it but they are big and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. We were not really sure what quality food would come out of a dark saloon kitchen but it was excellent. 1 pizza fed our family of 2 adults, a 4 year old and a 2 year old.

The atmosphere was quit unique. It was dim and had everything from young family's like ours to older senior couples. The walls and ceiling were covered in carved initials etc. and the seats had jiffy marker initials and graffiti. It really added to the character of the place.

For those of you who judge a place by the bathroom then you will be very pleased to hear that they were spotlessly clean.

What a great place and unique experience. I would most certainly return and definitely recommend it to others.

“seemed to be ignored”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

we went to Moose's Saloon as it seems to be a famous place from word of mouth we went in sat down and waited... and waited... and waited for service it seemed that the staff and people around the bar area were having a great time did I mention that there was not very many people in the place that were customers it seemed so we got tired of waiting and went to the bar to get service and again we waited... and waited and just got fed up and left our expectations deflated and found someplace else who wanted to serve up and take our money
never again and will let all the word of mouth people know "don't got there"

“Don't judge a book by it's cover!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We had a long day traveling from Southern Montana. We were looking for a great affordable meal that was family friendly! We found it in the Moose Saloon!
It is a seat yourself, order at the bar saw dust on the floor kind of place!~ The menu is limited to sandwiches, salads and Fantastic Pizza!!
Don't be fooled when you walk in! It is a little loud and looks like it could be a little rough but it is far from that! They encourage you to throw your peanut shells on the floor =)
This is by far the best pizza I have ever had!!!
