“Great Reception at front desk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

We were greeted at the front desk by a young lady named, "Mady". Mady made us feel very welcomed with her wonderful personality. She was extremely friendly and helpful. Her recommendations for dining establishments were spot-on, at least the one we visited.

After driving all day, Mady was a welcome relief to two weary travelers.

Thank You Mady!

This was our selected hotel on the third night of our trip. For us this was "after Glacier" and served as the stopping off point before heading back up to Canada. The hotel is new, very nice, clean and nearby to multiple restaurants, stores, etc. Definitely would recommend for anyone who wants just a basic, clean and new hotel. We used Kalispell as the base to also visit Bigfork (next to Flathead Lake) and also to do some shopping for some basic things (books, food, etc.) before heading back to Canada. This is a Holiday Inn Express, and being new the standard is the same as any other Holiday Inn Express with the free breakfast, etc. This hotel also has a nice indoor pool.

I recently stayed for second time at this hotel for a business trip and it did not dissappoint. The location is great for getting into town easily. Its also not to far from Glacier if your planning on heading out that way. As others have said, it is located behind a budding development which includes Starbucks, and Lowes. Currently, it is surrounded by some open fields pending their transformation to the next commercial venture.

Rooms were very clean and comfortable; some even came with balconies. There is a sparse free breakfast in the morning, but there are fresh cookies and milk in the evenings. The gym is equipped well enough, and the pool is rather large with a hot tub. There is a nice fireplace in the lobby with some nice rustic chairs to make waiting for a friend of enjoying a book with those free cookies quite enjoyable. Finally, there is a firepit out back for those who need to feel the breeze on the face at night.

Of course this is a Holiday Inn Express. So, if your looking for rustic Montana lodge surrounded by uninterrupted views of the mountains and the embrace of nature, this is not your hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for those coming to the area for business, or for those who just want a clean, comfortable place to lay their head before hitting the road to Glacier or Whitefish. If you need a vacation hotel, there are plenty of other options in the area.

The place smells like popcorn and the staff is not too friendly. The guy at the front desk needs to get another job - customer service is not for him. The hotel staff did not even have recommendations for decent restaurants.

At 169/nite this is a waste of money. BTW the free breakfast is not worth having - crappy toast and eggs. I would highly recommend skipping Kalispell and staying in Whitefish.

We stayed here 23 - 26th July 2009, a nice hotel, located across the road from Target, Ross, TJMaxx, etc. Our room consisted of 2 queen beds and a roll away bed. The rooms were nicely decorated, 2 televisions, fridge, microwave. Bathroom was very clean and modern, which you would expect from a new hotel. We also had a sofa in the room, a little tight with the cot bed. The hotel breakfast is a great start to the morning, and was never too busy always space to sit. My three children enjoyed the pool and spa. Overall a very clean hotel and located with easy access to the highway and resturants.

We stayed two nights at this hotel. It is two years old and very well maintained. It is clean and the layout is easy to get around. The rooms are generally comfortable. We found mustard on the desk chair and condoms in the bedside table. The pool is small but the whirlpool is a nice size and there is a small sitting area outside although that's where the smokers tended to congregate. the business centre was busy with kids on the internet but they did vacate when we asked to use it. We unfortunately had a lot of noise from two rooms above us. The units have balconies and it seemed that there were several children slamming doors, jumping on the floors and playing on the balconies. This occurred early in the morning and until about 11 p.m. We complained to the management the first day and they said they'd talk to the parties. On the second night the clerk at the front desk could care less saying there was nothing he could do. He refused to come to our room to hear the noise or go to the rooms/call the rooms and ask them to be quieter. When we complained to management the next day they stated that they would speak to the staff and apologized but basically didn't offer any compensation other than a free night at some other time. We don't live in the United States and are unsure we'd ever use it. It would have reflected a true apology by compensating us one night at that time. It is unfortunate that such a nice hotel has such poor customer service. The breakfast was also poor with cold eggs and sausages, coffee not filled and a poor selection of items. The noise factor, frustration of the desk clerk being unwilling to address the concerns and the management not compensating us for this has resulted in us giving them a poor rating. I hope they improve this level of customer service and then I think it would be worthy of a much better rating. It would also help if travelers would have the courtesy of realizing that other customers also pay for the accomodations and deserve the courtesy of some quiet time.

Like most, we came for Glacier NP and Flathead Lake. The location of the hotel north of Kalispell is ideal for quick starts on the trip to Glacier, but the trip will still take you a good 40 minutes.

Be aware however, that the views are nothing special (wide valley) and the area around the hotel looks like any suburb in America with Target, Lowes (next door), fast food, etc. These are conveniences to some, but annoyances for others. All local restaurants are in Kalispell proper and will require a 10 minute drive.

The hotel rooms are nice with the notable exception of the outrageously LOUD DOOR SLAMS that you will hear during your stay. Can no one hold a hotel room door anymore to avoid the slams?

The breakfast is very simple and abounds with carbs and fats. During our stay fresh fruit was as rare as diamonds with one hotel employee stating that "if the distributor doesn't deliver it, we can't just go down to the grocery store and buy bananas." Really, why not? So in short, no fruit 3 out of 5 days, nasty machine dispensed liquid claiming to be orange juice, but all the sausage, eggs, and biscuits and gravy you can eat. Not the diet most nature lovers would expect. Yes, there is cereal and luke warm milk and yogurt available.

The pool is decent, and the workout room and outer public areas are nice. The hotel is new (google aerial views still show a bare construction area.) but is frankly overpriced because it can be. I'd stay there again if planning to visit more than Glacier.
