We needed to stay in Kalispell for an early morning flight out of town and wanted to check out the 100 year-old Grand. Prices were (surprisingly) comparable (or lower!) to other options (all chains we are familiar with). Rooms are small, but well detailed with luxurious bedding and a comfortable bathroom.
The old elevator to the 2nd & 3rd floor rooms was half the size of today's ride, but just stepping into the lobby and hallways conjured visions of how the well-heeled travelers from 100 years ago must have felt.
The gift store downstairs called Paint, Metal & Mud is run by the local co-op of artists and I just couldn't resist buying a Lucky Tree Spirit as a memento of our stay in this historic (and some say haunted) hotel. Terry did hear some knocking on the desk, but I was so comfortably sound asleep I didn't hear a thing!
For those who travel with pets, the hotel offers goodies along with fresh baked human cookies in the afternoon. Oh... the breakfast spread includes a potato quiche in a flaky crust that is wonderful!
