“A Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2010

Booked this through Priceline as a 2.5 star hotel. I think it's closer to 3 star. Very modern and well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. I had called ahead with two requests that some hotels wouldn't even consider given that I bought the room through Priceline's Name your own Bid process. I wanted to have some things shipped to the hotel and asked if they would accept and hold them for me. I also asked if we could have a king bed given that it was for my wife and I only, and two beds seemed a waste. In both cases they enthusiastically agreed and helped out. When we arrived the package was waiting for us and the room was a suite with a King size bed. Far exceeded our expectations. We've stayed at the Red Lion, and that was great, but this was even better. Made a good weekend great. The only thing I'd recommend for them is to update their T.V.'s to High Def Flat Screens, rather than smaller old school Tube T.V.'s. A small thing in the grand scheme, but worth mentioning.

We stayed for two nights. The room appeared clean and bright and well furnished. The bed was very comfy (I have back problems and so this was a plus) The bathroom appeared clean, but the shower curtain and the toilet smelt unpleasant. Breakfast was the usual for this type of hotel and was good, if a little heavy on the carbs. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping left much to be desired when we arrived back at our room after breakfast, just as they were about to service our room, the maid was not prepared to come back, and so we were left to make up our own bed.
This was the Labor Day weekend and so places were very limited when we booked. Our third night we were able to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn (for less money) and it was so much better.

Large clean rooms, comfy beds, great staff, abundant breakfast with the usual, plus real juice and hard boiled eggs, actually easy to find if you are driving from the park, watch for the sign on the right just before you enter Kalispell, windows that open....quietest on the N. side but not that noisy even on the highway side. Nothing great about the location but with a car you only have to drive a few blocks for anything, no charge internet, but it would be nice if they could put 2 computers in a quieter cooler room. It really was Megan and Heather (reception) and the rest of hard working staff plus very nice rooms that made our trip to Glacier National Park, just that much more special.

Not very close to Glacier NP, but as close as we could find at the drop of a hat.

There's nothing wrong with this place, it's just a hotel. That's the good news, and the bad news.

Nice beds, nice room, a touch pricy but not outrageous, but I must admit we slept there, and spent all day up in Glacier NP. Which you should never EVER miss. You MUST go there, even if you're 40 miles away in Kalispell for a hotel.

The kids were kicked off the exercise equipment so that some adults could use it which put a bad taste in our mouth right away. It was a newer property and the rooms were ok. My room overlooked an old Winnebego on a neighbor's property but again it was more management's attitude toward kids and not the property that gives it the thumbs down for me.

Since the Canadian $$ stabilized a few years ago, after a 20 year hiatus, we started going to Kalipsell for some R&R and shopping again. After trying several hotels we found the LaQuinta and it is now our first choice. If you join their rewards program you earn free nights which we use during the high season. I read a few of the other reviews and realize that everyone can have a bad experience. We have not encountered that at all - somehow from so many stays we have become "Gold Members" so we are almost always upgraded. We are on a first name basis now with Megan, at the front desk, we like the fact that the pool is open 24 hours. I guess there are a few things that they are working on - you never know if your room is going to have VHS or DVD but they are switching them all out - we like to rent a DVD from Super 1 if we are down for two nights and generally go to the theatre the second night. The public computers do leave something to be desired but I would guess that is from the constant use and possibe misuse of them - perhaps they have had a drink of juice or something? We always take the lap top with us and use it in the room - altho last time we did pick up a virus. All in all - we love the LaQuinta - The breakfast I can take or leave - it is "alright" - depends what you like - Jucuzzi room is alright but we prefer the King Suite for the $$

Our only stop at this popular destination was anything but pleasant. The downstairs was like a tight prison block. The desk seemed putoff by our arrival. A noisy gang of motorcyle riders all but blocked the entry door with their machines. This was never corrected. The staff seemed afraid. The price was about equal with other night stops out here, but Hilton provides only a little better. Now that I live here, the poor accommodations of my area, and the expensive rates don't concern me.
