The hotel is anchored at one end of a medium-sized indoor mall which makes it convenient for shoppers. The rooms are generally well maintained and clean.

We had a problem with the shower draining but other than that the bathroom was stocked with the standard amenities. The beds were comfortable and the room was pretty quiet. The TV had many channels to choose from.

For those interested in a standard room with the standard comforts, the Red Lion fits the bill.

We stayed at the Red Lion in Kalispell for 3 nights in March.

We originally booked our vacation to stay 4 nights in Whitefish at the Holiday Inn Express....after one night we checked out.... rooms were not sound proof...could hear everything our neighbors were doing upstairs...toilet, shower, kids jumping on the bed....NOT.

I read reviews about the Red Lion prior to our departure, but wasn't sure if I wanted to stay in Kalispell. After our disappointing and sleepless night at the H.I. - we drove over to the Red Lion to check it out. The host let us view a room, and discussed various room types available. We stayed in a family suite...very comfortable, clean, quiet, updated, comfortable beds, quality hotel. My teenage daughter loved being able to walk to the mall attached to the hotel...my son loved the pool. Kalispell is a nice quaint town...very sweet. We will return...and we will stay at the Red Lion.

Pass on the hotel restaurant...there are other restaurants in close proximity for all meals...wasn't pleased there...

Love Kalispell....

We stayed off-season, for 2 nights and were very pleased.
Our room was beautiful, clean, quiet with a view of the town and the mountains in the background. The staff was pleasant.
The only complaint is the hotel restaurant that we went to for breakfast. The atmosphere is very pleasant but the food was so-so at best and they were clearly short-staffed.
But the hotel is convenient to downtown, within walking distance and is attached to an indoor mall.
We booked on a discount web site so we paid less than half of the going-rate which made it even better.
We would stay here again.

Very clean, newly remodeled rooms. Located at the busiest intersection in town so it was sometimes hard to get in and out of the place. Staff was very friendly. Was overbooked when we arrived so we were "upgraded" to another room for the same price as the original room. It appears that an upgrade moves you from a Mall View (it is attached to a small shopping mall) to an inside courtyard view. No in room movies.
Only one person was working at the front desk when we arrived at about 4 p.m. It took over 20 minutes to check in. However, I think this was an exception because all of the other times we walked by there were plenty of folks at the desk. The restaurant and lounge are closed on what appears to be a permanent basis. There is a small dining area for dinner in the back of the hotel where it attaches to the mall and there is room service available though we did not use it.
Lodging prices in Kalispell are very high so the price of our room was not a surprise.

The hotel's renovation, mentioned by earlier travelers, has been completed. The hotel looks great from the outside, clean and new from the inside, and the rooms are fine. The shower was fine, with good temperature controls. There were lots of pillows -- a big plus. Close to Smiths and J.C. Penneys and Walgreens - all occasional necessities after traveling awhile. (The town lacks any actual tourist businesses, despite the number of hotels. It's just the Canada-end of the Going to the Sun Highway.)
I did think the sheets were somewhat akin to fine grit sandpaper but my husband didn't notice at all. I don't expect Percale but these were rough enough to use as a washcloth....
