We all know these kinds of stops around American summer family tourist spots and national parks. It is almost obligatory to stop in what ends up being a cheesy souvenir shop with bad food.
However, after a winter drive through Glacier National Park one Sunny Saturday afternoon, it being my daugher's birthday, we absolutely had to stop and satisfy our craving for the locally famous Huckleberry pie they advertised along the road.
Boy were we happy we did!! This is NOT a tourist Trap. THIs is the real deal.
Delicious, home-baked (by Myrna and her crew) Huckleberry Pie, thick with berries, served with a smile AND a most reasonable Price!
In fact, when the gal serving us found out it was my daughter's birthday, she ran after us as we were leaving with a slice packed to-go and birthday wishes. Just reminds me again why I love Montana . Friendly people, down-to-earth attitudes and quality care .
They also sell all sorts of other Huckleberry products...jams, preserves, pie fillings, etc, all canned there on site and shippable anywhere you like. And yes, there are the obligatory and often hysterical Montana/Rocky Mountain souvenirs. But again, all was most reasonably prices and LESS than same found in Missoula.
Lest you feel denied ....or have your own craving for their delicious Huckleberry pie, you can actually order from them on-line and they'll ship one to you for $48.95 delivered via Priority Mail in box with custom-molded insert. (www.HuckleberryPatch.com ) I know what to get my pie-lovin' Dad for Father's day this year!
