We had read the reviews prior to booking and went with this hotel. Check in was a bit bumpy, but the staff was nice. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. There was a lot of hair on the bathroom floor, the sink faucet was nasty, and the light switch in the bathroom had something spilled/splashed/splattered all over it. It looked like maybe coffee. The tile in the tub area was beautiful and was shiny from some angles, but from other angles, it looked as though it had just been left to dry after the previous guest without being cleaned. Yuck! There was dust on the solid surfaces in the room. The tub was very clean as was the appearance of the bedding. The housekeeping service the following day was poor and none of the above was improved. Also, in the stairwell, we had noticed a piece of toilet paper that was there for two days and a french fry for a day and a half! Both were still there when we left! Although this is a newer hotel, I think it is not going to age well due to the lack of attention. The stairwell also had lots of black scuff marks on the walls and outside there were some pretty large weeds. As far as the decor, the carpet in the room was a really bold pattern that could give you a headache or make you nauseous or dizzy looking at it. It did not match the curtains or chair. The headboard was pretty. The furniture was basic and the drawers were really small. The internet sucked! Don't bother trying to use it. You will just be frustrated. I did like the white noise of the fan. It blocked out the noise of the people in the next room and all of the traffic. The most disappointing thing probably was the lack of a mini refrigerator in the room. For the price we paid and the fact that it was a newer hotel, I could not believe it didn't have one. My husband said that Holiday Inn Express' always have them when I was booking. The guy who did the breakfast did a great job! He really hustled! He was there the entire time we stayed and did a great with selection and stocking. They even had pancakes! We had the cinnamon rolls both days! Mmmmmmm! We did not use the indoor pool or hot tub. It looked clean, but the only time we had to use it, there were two guys cleaning it (during the time it was supposed to be open). At least it was being cleaned! There are lots of great historic districts to see in Helena! The Chamber has copies of walking tours. If you have kids, take them to the carosel!
We loved touring the state Capital! The tours are free on the hour and it is beautiful! The histor...
