My wife and I stayed at the Carolina in November with a recommendation from a Helena local. We drove from Billings to Helena in the early morning of a typical sunny winter day. Our trip was supposed to be an up and back trip, but the weather changed to be hazardous for driving. The owner provided an allowance on the price due to the dangers of driving back home, for which we were greatful. We were excited to try out the bed and breakfast and get a good night of sleep. We did a last minute reservation and met the inn keeper before dinner time and checked in and let her know about our no wheat, no milk preferences so we could eat breakfast. The only other guest was an extended stay tenant on the first floor, so we got to choose our room. We chose The Anisette Room and loved the fireplace, large bathroom, big windows for natural light, and big writer's desk. Breakfast in the morning was great! Lots of bacon, fruit, yogurt & granola, fried potatoes, and sticky rols (yes, only one of us is wheat/dairy intolerant...poor me looking at all the tasty treats!). We explored around the rest of the main house and enjoyed the richness of the house. On our trip tomorrow we will try out one of the other rooms and surely look forward to our visit.
