“Brings you back in time”

I enjoyed touring the mansion. It was fascinating to see how well the wealthy lived in that era. The Mansion has been well cared for over the years. The grounds are in exceptional condition.

“The Dalys' Summer Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Knowing the history of the Daly family in Hamilton, one can appreciate the care the modern keepers of the house and grounds give to the old place. The grounds are gorgeous and the scene of many a wedding, festival and performance as the summer passes by. Autumn finds the volunteers tapping the many maple trees for the best maple syrup around. The colorful trees are a joy to behold every fall. The past 20 years have been kinder to the house as various craftspeople restored it from a neglected derelict. The interior now sparkles and the docent tours are a delight. The history of one of Montana's Copper Kings is told as well as that of Margaret Daly's on-going legacy to the Bitterroot Valley.

there is a fee for the house tour, but access to the grounds is free.

“Daly Mansion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Lovely way to spend a Sunday or any day for that matter... from the entrance we were treated to a long tree lined drive... stopped Deer and her new fawn to cross... then a moment later a Mother Duck and her babies crossed to a small creek so serene a beautiful grounds...lovely old trees and pretty flowers everywhere...everyone here is a volunteer and the tour was wonderful. Not for young Children...they will be bored nice history in this pretty valley...Estate was forced to shut down in the 80's and all furnishings sold at auction...many many treasured pieces have been donated back over the years.. the home has been transformed from the sad state it was.. wall paper, floors, fireplaces and antiques are amazing in this 44 room Mansion...( huge tubs were my favorite) the rooms are staged to perfection with personal treasures that belonged to the Families who visited and lived here...there is an elevator and a cute gift shop and very knowledgeable Volunteers who go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your visit...I felt like I had stepped back in time to a long ago era..very interesting history...a few picnic tables and amazing grounds...keep the little ones at home...you need to be able to listen to the tour guides for 2 floors and the third you can go at your own leisure. Hamilton offers many good places to eat after your tour.

“Montana Serenity on Estate of Another Era”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We enjoy going to this property when we are in Hamilton. You can wander the lovely tended grounds, sit under the many old growth trees, listen to the birds, imagine what it must have been like in its glory era when the family spent their summers there with an entourage of servants.
You can visit the ground at no charge but to tour the inside of the mansion there is a charge. We did it once, interesting, but prefer to spend the time outdoors on this stunning property. It is used for many community events so the Daly Mansion is a real asset to the surrounding towns of Hamilton.

“A little history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I have been to the Daly house twice. It is beautiful and the guided tour gives the visitor an overall history of the lumbering and cattle industry in Hamilton. Worth the time
