“Magnificent Birthday Pampered Adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We had a most phenomenal stay in a gorgeous one bedroom tent at Creekside Camp. Our jaws literally dropped when we first saw the dining Pavilion set in a meadow by the creek - an outdoor living room/dining room with every amenity and beyond fabulous service from our butlers Dani and Shannon. The attention to detail by Dani and Shannon was beyond anything we had ever experienced. They set a tone for an experience that was a highlight of our lives. ("Will they please move in with us....") The natural setting is indescribable and the photos on the website do not adequately convey the breathless beauty of this property. It is much larger and more private than we had thought. We had wonderful breakfasts at our leisure by chef Ryan and dinners by chef Justin who were exemplars of the educated, bright, creative and attentive staff that we encountered throughout our stay. We were treated like royalty on one of our's 60th birthday. The staff throughout the day, made everything feel magical and special, ending with a personalized dinner thanks to the lovely CEO Steven, who made special arrangements for the best salmon dinner we have ever had, created by the celebrated Top Chef Dale. The presentation, the freshness, was 5 star quality. We feel so grateful to all who made this such a celebratory event. Best wishes to all, L&J.

Thank you SO much for this review of your recent stay at Paws Up. We appreciate it very much.

The entire team is delighted that you enjoyed your visit here and that a special birthday was celebrated in Montana style. As we discussed when we met, the uniqueness of Paws Up is hard to describe; you really have to experience it. Ultimately it is the people who work here that make the difference and add that extra touch of magic to an already amazing location, and that comes across clearly in your comments.

I hope we will be able to welcome you both back again in the future. No need to wait until a "big" birthday as an excuse to return!

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Paws Up in Montana, and had an absolutely amazing time! We started in the meadow homes for 2 nights, then moved to the Cliffside camp for the next 3 nights. Our butler (Katherine) and chef (Shanay) were so fantastic! They took great care of us and made it a truly memorable experience. We planned everything with Jessica (our concierge). She made the process so easy, she even helped us get our fishing licenses and plan our entire itinerary.

An extra bonus is that they provided transportation to/from the airport and throughout the property for the entire trip. It was AWESOME. We couldn't have had a better trip, and couldn't say one bad thing about Paws Up!

Thank you for writing this review of your honeymoon at Paws Up, and congratulations to you both!

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we succeeded in helping to create lifelong memories. You experienced both our homes and our tents and were some of the first guests in our newest camp, Cliffside, which we are so proud of.

Thank you for mentioning the specific staff who helped make the honeymoon so enjoyable. We love to share these comments with the entire staff and look forward to welcoming you back, perhaps to celebrate a future anniversary!

We had a really mixed experience at Paw's Up. It was a gorgeous property, and some of the activities like fly-fishing were top notch. But others were a rip off. Our 4 hour canoe trip, for which our family of 4 spent almost $500, consisted of 20 minutes of gathering in the activity center, 30 minutes of driving to the river, 15 minutes gearing up, and only one actual hour of paddling, followed by a 30 minute return drive. Another major problem was that food service was slow. Not irritatingly slow, or mildly aggravating slow, but tension and anxiety-producing slow, as we nearly missed or had to reschedule the activities that we came to Montana for, because we were waiting for food. Not complicated food, either. It should not take more than an hour for yogurt at breakfast, or a hamburger at lunch. I cut people in the service industry a lot of slack, but I was actually tempted to go into the kitchen more than once and just grab some food! Staff was apologetic, and did not try to make excuses, but did not fix the problem. There were little things that contributed to our frustration and added up to my feeling that the five-star prices did not equal five-star (or even one star) service. The phone and the tv in our cabin did not work, our golf cart was constantly stalling out, and housekeeping did not replace the soap in our cabin when we ran out. Not earth-shattering, but if I wanted to use the toilet or shower without soap, I would have gone wilderness camping...

I am so sorry that we failed in our quest to provide world class service, and that we disappointed you in that and several other regards. I will not attempt to make excuses; you have a right to expect a quality experience regardless of price and we have built an enviable reputation over the years for delivering on our promise. On this occasion we fell short in some areas for which I apologize.

Please be assured that we have taken your comments to heart and worked to correct the shortcomings with enhanced training and processes.

I do hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you back at some point and provide you with the true, authentic and flawless Paws Up experience that is more indiciative of our usual standards. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss this further, and thank you for taking the time to provide your candid feedback.

We have been wanting to go "glamping" here since we first heard of Paws Up in our travels to Montana around 2005. The place does not disappoint!! It began with Nicole who was very helpful as we started the reservation process, followed by Jordan who helped to accommodate our arrival/departure arrangements as well as schedule all of our activities for the duration of our stay, which was Memorial Day weekend and the the Master Grillers event. We selected and stayed in Creekside Camp attended by the two most fabulous camp butlers, Katherine and Cassie, who we can't possibly say enough about! Our every need was met with a friendly smile and gracious attitude. Every evening we arrived back at camp to a roaring fire in the dining pavilion as well as the outdoor fire pit. We were greeted at the fire pit with trays of beverages and trays for the fixings for s'mores and/or hot dogs. Our tent was prepped for us with lamps on, heaters glowing and the electric blankets warming our bed before our eventual retirement each night. Every morning was greeted with the same accommodating spirit at the dining pavilion where Joe and Corey were busy preparing whatever breakfast our heart's desired. Eric does a fantastic job managing the tent camps. Our activities guides were all outstanding. Trey was great as our guide on our 2-hour horseback trail ride. Thad took us out for fly fishing on Clearwater River. His 15 years of experience on the water was beneficial as he taught us how to fly fish . . . and we got one and nearly landed 7 more!! Hannah led the 3-hour ATV tour that was totally awesome. Patrick took us out for a cattle drive. His excellent horsemanship and knowledge of running a ranch provided a great model for all of us. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to "cut and sort" cattle in a pen on horseback!! Zach led our sporting clay activity. His many years of shooting experience provided us with patient instruction in an extremely safe shooting environment, which made our successes at hitting our targets that much more fun. As our final activity, Josh guided our raft down the Blackfoot River with ease. The food and beverage for this special long weekend was fabulous. The chefs and staff all provided 5-star service and were there for our every gastronomic need. It was great fun to chat with the chefs and the distillers on hand. Jennifer in the general store was very friendly and readily available to help in any way both in the store or in placing an order for something to be shipped home. We have to say that, without a doubt, what made our time on the ranch most special was the camaraderie we shared with Katherine and Cassie and our fellow camp mates. Our time at Paws Up was most excellent!! We are already planning our next visit! Thank you for making this one of the best adventures ever! Mike (Krow) and Lisa K

The Resort at Paws Up embodies the definition it's all in the details- the extended treatment of or attention to particular items (according to Merriam-Webster). From the moment I began the reservation experience, the level of service, commitment to excellence and legitimate sincerity was apparent. I planned this as a surprise trip for my husband's 50th birthday. The talented staff at the reservations and the concierge (Jessica and Stephanie) worked with me to draft a plan that would be full of surprises, fun, and accommodating. Little did I know all of the surprises that they had even for me. The team was extremely professional and this was extended and demonstrated upon our arrival at the airport (Danielle). From the moment we stepped into the shuttle it was as if we entered into a ride into a fantasy land for the next five days. Wonderful conversation and snacks on the ride back to the resort, being greeted like royalty upon arrival at check in (Travis, Stephanie) and then we entered the most beautifully appointed accommodations at Glasstail cabin. Every attention to detail was accounted for- it was as if we had left our home and transported it to Montana only this one was much, much nicer and cozier. ~1200 sq of beauty every nook and cranny was of rustic decor- not overdone. Simply beautiful, classic and cozy. I had spoken to Stephanie about a Happy Birthday sign for my husband, but they took it to another level. A beautiful coffee table book with a personalized note written to my husband wishing him Happy Birthday and welcoming him back to Montana (his birthplace) was awaiting him. In addition were a few other handwritten letters from the staff of the resort to both us wishing us a wonderful vacation to include anniversary greetings. The hot tub was already warmed and ready as well. Danielle advised that the restaurant was ready to serve or bring us lunch if we were ready to eat. We went to eat lunch at the restaurant and met Kevin. All of the staff was warm, welcoming and easy- yet had a very professional way about them. We learned that we would be the only guests at the resort for the next few days so we had all of the resort to ourselves and could pick anything we wanted at anytime on the menu. Astonishing! We had a wonderful opportunity to spend time with Paul in the restaurant, meet Adam one of the head chef's. The food is world-class- we had never had anything like it. For breakfast, lunch and dinner we were never disappointed. The gift shop would open just for us and Jennifer helped us pick out some very nice items to bring home. In regards to activities- my husbands was like a 10 year old on the fly fishing trip and that was largely in part to our guide Justin. He was a wonderful trainer and made us feel like rock stars even when we clearly weren't. Fly-fishing on the Blackfoot River doesn't get any better. Unbelievable! Justin also took us along with Paul B. on a fabulous ATV ride where we experienced beautiful meadows, wildlife and peace. It felt like the land was literally ours! Paul B. spent time with us on archery (now my new favorite thing to do) so very instructional, detailed oriented and encouraging. It was a great time. Our last activity was horseback riding where my husband's horse's name was Fifty- coincidence? I'm not sure, but again that goes back to that attention to detail of this place. Anytime we asked for something, it was provided. This resort was perfectly relaxing- evenings spent building a crackling fire, roasting s'mores or in the wonderful hot tub. My only regret is that we didn't stay any longer. I already sent my husband a calendar invite for next year...same time next year- Paws Up!

Wow! We've traveled all over the World and stayed in the Best Resorts and Properties and this was off the charts! The setting was spectacular, the list of activities a mile long and the people who guide the trips and service the resort made the whole experience. Our Mnt Biking Guide Cavin took us on a custom ride as well as Rappeling - he was so friendly and cool. He showed us an Eagles Nest (2 baby bald eagles) and had us stop to watch an Elk Heard. Majestic is all that comes to mind. Our fishing Guide Stanford was a great guy. I caught my 1st Rainbow Trout - 19 inches and he was more excited than I was....his instruction was spot on. The people here don't feel like servants - they feel like highly educated friends. We are already planning another visit and would give this place 10 stars if we could.

Room Tip: We loved our Cabin! The views and privacy were perfect for us. No need to wear a bathing suit into...

It is interesting that you have started your review with our favorite word - "wow!". Thanks so much for taking time to post this!

Our mission at the resort is to continuously try to create the "wow" in everything we do, and continue with little surprises throughout a guest's stay so that it just keeps getting better and better. That is a tall order, and I am delighted that we succeeded during your short stay here in soliciting a "wow!" reaction from you and your colleagues.

We would love to receive ten stars but landing a 19" trout is certainly a ten star achievement in our book too! Congratulations and please return again soon for more adventures at our unique and special ranch resort!
