“This is my favorite place to stay in Montana!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Rooms are a premium in Glendive, MT so I really hate letting one of my "secrets" out. I spend about 100 nights a year on the road and I go out of my way to stay here. The staff is so helpful and accommodating to the point of allowing me to use the kitchen to prep one of my meals. I have stayed here about 10 times now and have yet to have a poor experience. Typically the conversation is great during breakfast and there are always many very interesting people with great stories. The charm and character of this B&B has no rival - you feel like you are in times long past with modern conveniences (AC, WiFi, refrigerators, etc...). I have yet to have a morning where I am not relaxed after staying here.

Room Tip: Annie is my favorite room!

Breakfast is served at 7:15am. If you are not up for it, that's your problem. We stayed in probably their nicest room. The air conditioner kept blowing the breaker so we couldn't cool down our room; the windows were so rickety that we couldn't open them so we suffered through a stuffy night in a stuffy old house; the bathroom had no fan; there were no bottles of water in the noisy refrigerator plugged in next to the tv (what did they think we were going to put in there, anyway?); the tv had enticing DVD's but alas, no DVD player in the room; there is a weird flophouse motel across the street where a guy keeps wandering around all hours of the night but no one seems to mind; the doors are all kept locked; there is no "safe" place for you to park your car although the owners have a fenced in area/garage for their vehicles; if you happen to stay here there is a great Mexican place nearby -- don't listen to the owner -- by all means, try it. They are welcoming and the food is really good. We wished that we had stayed at a hotel. This was expensive for the quality of the room -- never mind that the house was charming -- it's the room where you're sleeping and the bed that matters. Ours was the Annie something or other which we picked because that was my mother's name. It was just dreadful. We couldn't wait to leave.

We stayed here on our way to Yellowstone. Were very impressed with the lovely old mansion. The yard is gorgeous the house is clean and full of beautifiul antiques. The hostess was super nice and the breakfast!! Wow. The best we have ever had on the road. Definitely want to go back.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, interesting place, well located. We stayed in the Queen room on the main floor and it was comfortable. The lighting was not good in bathroom or bedroom, but old houses weren't made to have the shades closed all the time. I can't say anything negative........just positive. If you like B&B's, this is an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: The upstairs bedrooms may have been a little quieter since we were by the main hall. But, we had a l...

Second time I've stayed in two years, each visit just as good = excellent. Breakfasts are best I've ever had in any B&B, domestic or abroad. Service was gracious, beds fine. Turn-of-the-century building, comfortable furniture. Plan on spending at least an hour at breakfast as the food is served in courses and good conversations pop-up. Nearby supper places not better than expected in a small town.

Room Tip: Various room prices; cheapest worked well for this couple.

We stayed just 1 night, but the host & hostess are so hospitable, they make you feel as if they've always known you. The historic house is tremendous, with beautiful bevel glass windows & lovely antiques. Our room was upstairs with a king-sized bed & claw-foot bathtub. Nice amenities. Breakfast was organic with fresh fruits & eggs, homemade breads & sweets. Interesting mix of guests, from a first-time stay to regulars. We stay in many b&bs and would rate this beautiful, very large home, one of our favorites.

This was our third stay at the historic Charley Montana in Glendive, MT. We had the same room on the first floor that we had stayed in on our previous visits. It's a suite, with an extra bed that our son slept in. Even though the proprietors have changed since our last visit, we still found Charley Montana to be a wonderful place to stay. The grounds have been improved since we stayed there four years ago, and we think the new owners have done a very good job with the landscaping. The breakfast was delicious. We would stay there again, and would highly recommend it!

Room Tip: There is a small suite on the ground floor with a double bed and a small twin bed that is good for a...
