I was born & raised in Glasgow, so you might say I'm a little biased, but I think not. I've had pizza just about every place I've ever traveled, and NOTHING compares to Eugenes! Their homemade dough, BBQ sauce and ranch make it UNBEATABLE in my book. The dough is hand-tossed in the exposed kitchen, which is a time honored tradition followed by the owners of Eugenes for over 50 years.
The Knodel's have owned the restaurant for the last 40 some years, and Sam & Jeff, along with their mother Mary Sue, make not only amazing food, but a great atmosphere!!
Eugenes serves a thin crust style pizza that is cut into squares instead of triangles... it's fantastic. The few years I was away from home at college, I suffered from severe Eugene's withdrawals. They do offer pre-made half baked pizzas (which you must call in your order for at least a few days in advance), but nothing compares to a fresh Eugenes pizza!
Pizza - BBQ Chicken; The homemade BBQ sauce is to die for and the combination of cheeze, that crispy crust and chicken? It's a masterpiece!
Ribs - Using the same homemade BBQ sauce their ribs are wrapped in tin foil and cooked for 30 minutes in the pizza oven. Unbelievably good! They come with a bun, a large salad, and a can of V8 (strange but true!)
Chicken - Delicious! I'll have to admit, though.. I've only had the chicken a few times in the 20 some years I've been eating at Eugenes (the pizza is too good to pass up!), but it'ls always good!
Salad dressing - I walk into Eugenes every two to three weeks with a 2 liter salad dressing jug and have them top me off with ranch. They make it themselves and will sell it to you by the quart. It's worth it!! On pizza or salad, it's the best on the planet!
It's an undescribable place, you have to visit it to understand! So next time your traveling across Montana's Hi Line, stop in! The Travelocity Roaming Gnome did, you should too!
