Across street from Yellowstone NP entrance, was clean & adequate. We stayed in a "family unit" with a well-supplied kitchen, even condiments were included! Saw an Osprey catch a fish in the river from the patio -- very cool.

Stayed in Gardiner due to excursions planned for North Yellowstone area. Last minute plans, but Bill was very cordial and was able to book 2 rooms for 3 nights. Stayed in the new section of the Motel - extremely clean both inside and out, great staff (maid service and front office), all necessary amenities, quiet, good A/C. Highly recommend the Raven restaurant for dinner (1 block away). Probably the best value in Gardiner.

We liked the fact being near the North Loop of the park. Patio are in back was real nice to enjoy the view of the mountains and the yellowstone river. Grills were available which we used and service was pretty good. Rooms were real nice. Small bathroom but thats ok with all the room for beds, tables etc. If you don't want to stay in the Park this is a nice place, and price was pretty good too. Office is only open for certain times but that was not a bother to us. They had Wi-Fi which was nice but to watch the News you got either LA or NY and not like Butte or Billings. Easy walk to places on that side of the river like restaurants, and a gas station that opened at 5:30 AM and closed at 11PM. Parking was kind of a pain but we were able to get a spot in front of our room.

During our four day trip to Yellowstone national park, we stayed each night at different locations just to avoid travelling within park. Out of 3 nights 2 nights we stayed within park and we didn't get accommodation for a night in mammoth hot spring area, thats when I decided to book a room outside park and went for yellow stone river motel. It was my first stay in a motel but I was amazed by the room it was much better than any of hotels in city for the cost we paid. It had comfortable bed, fridge, microwave and TV since microwave, fridge weren't available within park cabins we used them to fullest and enjoyed food we cooked in room. Apart from all its amenities it is located just 5 miles from park's north entrance.

With the North entrance to Yellowstone NP less than 1 km away, this is a great base from which to explore the northern half of the park. The rooms are a good size with adequate bathroom facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms, staircases and communal areas were cleaned daily. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, try the Two bit and Raven Grill.

I'd like to point out that this review documents our attempt to book a room, rather than an actual stay.

Back in January we registered our interest in a room for a few days in late May. We understood that it only opens in April and that we wouldn't hear anything until then. April rolls around and we hear nothing. So we shoot off a few emails, concerned that we were running out of time to make other arrangements if we couldn't stay here. Nothing. Also tried to call. No answer.

Now in early May and we're about to head over to the US, still not knowing the status of the booking. Finally got someone to answer the phone this morning. I explain our situation. "Oh yeah, we're a bit behind on answering emails." OK, so what about our reservation? "Oh, what you fill out online is not a reservation." Um, yeah, understood. "So, what about it?". Are you kidding me? Does it not occur to you that I'm ringing to find out if I actually have somewhere to stay in a few weeks when I get there??? Sheesh!

"Oh we've been booked out since last summer".

Thanks. Thanks heaps. Thanks for checking our emails and letting us know. I mean, you've only had 4 months to do it. Now at the last minute we have to find somewhere else, whilst we're busy winding up work and packing. Great service. Maybe we'll try you again on our next trip over that way. Not.

We came upon this hotel leaving the park late in the day. It was just outside of the park entrance. We did not have any reservations and they had a room available even in the new section! The room was small but very clean and comfortable. They were very friendly and accommodating. They even gave very good recommendations for restaurants.
The rate was also very affordable with a family of four.
