“Good Location When Visiting Northern Portion Of Yellowstone NP”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2015

The Absaroka Lodge is located only a minute away from the Northwest entrance of Yellowstone NP. It is a very convenient place to stay if visiting the Mammoth, Tower/Roosevelt, and/or Lamar Valley sections of the park.

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the heat worked well when we visited in March. The Lodge sits along the Yellowstone River, and each room has a balcony overlooking it, which is nice. They also gave us extra towels for when we went to soak in the Boiling River.

The Absaroka Lodge is a good choice when looking for basic lodging while visiting Yellowstone.

Great location overlooking the Yellowstone River. You can see the group of White water rafters from the room. It's not a fancy hotel. It's more than comfortable, clean and reasonably priced for this area during peak travel season. Would definitely choose this place again when we come back to Yellowstone.

First of all, we reserved the room six months in advance as recommended. We stayed for almost two weeks in June. We got a bottom corner room facing the river and national park. Since it was June, the rates were about that of a Comfort Suites room. The staff cleaned the room everyday and did the dishes, too. We took our patio chairs down by the river and watched the rafting. Our daughter was with us and they provided a cot. The downtown is located within walking distance. We had a quality experience and the staff were very helpful with information.

Room Tip: Be sure to try and book at least six months in advance. This gives a better choice of rooms. If yo...

I guess one should not complain, all lodgings around Yellowstone are obscenely expensive, this is no exception. Nice large rooms though, and very close to the north entrance. We had a room with kitchenette, which was a godsend after a long day in the park, as none of us wanted to go eat out.

Reception closes at seven, so make sure you tell them if you arrive later than that.

Thanks for staying with us and we appreciate the positive review. Your right in the summer which is our high season rates are high all around the park but we're cheaper than most of the other hotels.

Stayed here one night during Yellowstone trip. We were going to Lamar Valley early the next morning, so this hotel was convenient. It's in a nice location overlooking the river. Our room had a small porch overlooking the river where we could sit and have a glass of wine. It was nothing special, but was roomy enough and comfortable. Affordable properties near Yellowstone are hard to find. This met our needs and budget.

A good price and comfortable. Very good heating with 1 deg F outside. No problems at all over our two night stay. The Cowboy Saloon and Grille over the bridge is a decent place to eat. We visited in November at a quiet season. Very cold, but quiet in the park.

Room Tip: Stay here. you should not be worried. 125 was good.

Stayed here in September and maybe we are too picky but we were given a room in the lower level - basically a basement with a walk-out door on the back. The hallway is very dark, dungeon-like and the carpets are horrendous. This includes inside the room. The bed and bath were clean but the carpet was so nasty we had to keep our shoes on the whole time we were there and even put them on to go to the bathroom during the night. Thing that annoyed me the most was that it is basically the first motel out of the park so my husband stopped to see about it. Was told all hotels were booked up and were calling them to find rooms for people. So my husband paid, what we felt was too high a price, only to find out when we went out for supper that there were vacancies all over town. Didn't like being lied to at all and then the dirty floors and overall cave-like appearance just added to our dislike of the place.

With an overwhelming amout of kind reviews you are going to find it hard to please everyone all the time. We're sorry you felt this way. I have to disagree on the carpets because the hallway carpet is brand new and the room carpeting is only several years old and we walk it every day. It's definitely not as bad as you make it out to be.
