Clean, theme oriented rooms (we stayed in Northern Pacific room), family run place. Very friendly and helpful staff (in the first room we got, the TV did not work, so they moved us into another room). On the south side of Gardiner
However, major complaint is the breakfast bar, or the lack of it. I do not call powdered doughnut holes and "mystery" muffins with coffee/tea a breakfast. And if you are a late rise you may not even find those, so bring your own. No excuse for this, either provide reasonable breakfast (since you advertise it) or don’t bother.
For this reason I would try the Travelodge up to road or stay in Mammoth Springs.

We stayed two nights in Gardiner, MT at the Northern Entrance of Yellowstone and enjoyed those two nights much more than the two nights we spent at Old Faithful. Old Faithful is noisy, chaotic and tourist oriented while Gardiner is a quirky, scenic town with just enough activity and just enough peace and quiet. We had easy access to several attractions of Yellowstone and if I had it to do over again, would probably have stayed 3 days in Gardiner and driven in each day to the park leaving only one night for Old Faithful. The Yellowstone Village Inn was a fun place to stay-nothing special, just motel type accomodations but nice people, unique furnishings and a view which can't be beat. Also, they arranged a whitewater rafting trip for us through Flying Pig Rentals in Gardiner which was great. We really liked the Yellowstone Village Inn and recommend it highly.

After 2 weeks on the road we found this place the best we had stayed in. The room was really cosy, a home from home.
The rate is v.reasonable compared to other places in the town e.g. Best Western rip off over the road.
The bed was comfortable and we had our best nights sleep. Also your in Gardiner... an incredible setting.
