“Wonderful experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2009

We stayed at the Grand Union overnight in a Jr. Suite. Our room looked out over the Missouri River and the Park. It was a good size room with all the amenities. The hotel remodel is fantastic. The staff was very nice and helpful. We ate at the hotel restaurant and had a delicious meal. We highly recommend this hotel.

Historic hotel in a city that was a bustling city until railroads took over transportation. Town is very small and in the Great Falls, Montana area. Hotel has been restored nicely, has nice views and an excellent restaurant. The city has lots of history.

  • Liked — HIstory of the hotel and location.
  • Disliked — Town is very small.

Great historic hotel from the steamboat era. Very nicely restored and the rooms are quite comfortable although the beds are getting to be a little tired. A few things make this hotel a destination for us: great location right on the Missouri River, fantastic innovative food at decent prices from a really dedicated kitchen staff, nice breakfast included, and really nice people running the place. Possibly a few ghosts roaming the great staircase and corridors, but the hotel is over 125 years old after all! You can almost picture Al Swearingen in 1883, standing at the bar waiting for the boat back to Dakota Territory!

We stayed at the Grand Union after a long day taking a boat ride through the White Cliffs of the Missouri. What a trip, and a what a luxury to end up at the Grand Union.

This hotel was built to serve a bustling port during the great age of steamboats, and while its had its ups and downs since then, the current incarnation of the Grand Union is a beautiful destination. We were treated very well by the staff and had a delicious gourmet dinner and dessert in the dining room before retiring to a small but beautifully appointed and comfortable room. Our room was quiet, with nice hot showers and good beds.

In the morning we had a very nice breakfast in the dining room with a great view of the river, and enjoyed poking around the historic lobby before our departure. Don't hesitate to treat yourself to a night at the Grand Union.

My husband and myself stayed here for one night and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The location was beautiful, the staff friendly and the room clean and comfortable. Be sure to have dinner here. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. We expected to have just a lite breakfast in the morning ( included in your room price) but what a surprise..Hot egg dish.lovely fruit platter, cereal, homemade bread, coffeecake, cranberry muffins etc. Would we stay here again...Yes Yes Yes. Oh the price excellent $105.00. If driving through and need a place to stay you could not go wrong with this palce.

A delightful stay in an historic and charmingly restored building on the banks of the Missouri River in history filled Fort Benton. Be sure to eat at the hotel's restaurant and for sure try the berries and cream anglaise for dessert. We would stay here again anytime.
