The moment I drove into Darby, Montana, I knew I had arrived...rustic, historical Darby is an absolutely gorgeous little town in the middle of a national forest. The people are friendly and quite the most interesting folk I have met in any single place outside my time in the Army. The scenic views are so refreshing in the mornings, the piney smell of the town, invigorating. A little cafe on the main street serves wonderful home cooking in portions that would satisfy the appetite of anyone and the saloon downtown often has a live band on the weekends....and morning coffee and newspapers shared by locals everyday. Closeby is the exceptional Lake Como and for the traveler who wants everything, Triple Creek Ranch is not far from town. Fly fishermen drift down the river in tubes, canoes, any portable craft. Nearby Hamilton houses the local shopping and largest stores in the area. Personally, for me, it's closer to heaven on earth than anything I could ever imagine. Oh, and if you haven't had prime rib in Montana, you haven't had the best!
