“What a B&B Should Be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Every B&B has it's own personality reflecting the owners and region. That is why I choose them over lifeless hotel chains whenever possible. Toad Hall does everything right from spending personal time with each guest, suggesting places to dine, and paying attention to every detail. A lot of places are run like a business and leave feeling like a number. Here is this and that, breakfast is at 8am, see you tomorrow. Not here. The owners truly love what the do and their passion is genuine. I can't think of anything that could have improved our stay. Worth every penny!

This was a quirky B&B with friendly & eccentric owner (called himself 'Mr Toad'). The place (a modern mansion) is sumptuous in decor and 'toad paraphernalia', and generous in comfort and service. However there was nowhere to hang/put our clothes and breakfast (no choices offered) was too big (double eggs benedict).

What a pleasure it was to find Glenn and Jane, and the lovely Toad Hollow B & B.
We received a warm welcome, had great conversation (and a well-stocked bar) for cocktail hour, a fabulous breakfast the next morning. These two clearly enjoy being in the B &B business and seem genuinely interested in their guests. You will love them!

As we drove up to Toad Hall Manor. my husband exclaimed "I'm impressed!" His awe continued as we checked in and were given a tour by our hostess, Jane, and led to our room "Mr Mole's Hideaway". The room was more like a suite with large bathroom and bedroom areas. It is located on the bottom floor with entry through a common room with TV and guest kitchen with dining areas both outside on the patio and inside. Jane and her husband Glenn welcomed us with refreshment and great conversation. They made dinner suggestions and reservations for us too. Next morning - after a restful sleep - we enjoyed scones and coffee before heading upstairs for breakfast on the deck. The attention to detail is impecable - like staying in a boutique hotel with a butler. Breakfast consisted of frest fruit, juice, specialty jams with toast, and an egg dish. This is a very affordable lodging choice and much better option than a chain hotel. Butte has alot to offer in both dining adventures and mining history. The manor is a delight

Room Tip: Mr Moles Hideaway is a gem with large bathroom, closet space and bed area. It is on bottom floor wi...

After staying with Glenn and Jane perhaps seven or eight times now, we've run out of superlatives to use in our reviews of their wonderful B&B. For details, read some of the other glowing reviews. For my wife and I, suffice it to say that if we are within 100 miles of Toad Hall Manor on driving trips throughout the region, we make a point to stay there! For us it now has become almost more a destination than a comfy stop while passing through. We'll continue staying there at least once a year, and twice a year if possible, for as long as they'll have us and we're able to do so!!

Room Tip: We prefer Papa Otter's Place because of the wonderful private garden.

The inn keeper "Toad" and his wife seem to be running this B&B because they enjoy having company in their lovely home. The home is set on the edge of the Butte Country Club and has a lovely deck overlooking the course. Drinks and breakfast are served on the deck. The ground floor has its own living area as well as the guest rooms. Our room had its own patio off the bedroom where we had our delicious scones and coffee before coming up for the cooked breakfast on the deck. The inn keepers joined the guests for some lively morning conversation.

The greetings and conversation were also lively upon our arrival the previous day. Toad asked us what we wanted to drink, stating that he prided himself in being able to make almost anything. It was a hot day so we asked for mojitos. A short time later he returned saying that he couldn't find any mint so he needed to go to the store. He invited me to come along in his first generation Thunderbird--light blue hardtop from the 1950's. That was a special treat and was extended some when the first store didn't have mint either and we drove to another. Hospitality way above what is expected.

Butte is also an interesting city. Lots of old mining history and historic buildings. They also like to party and host a number of festivals throughout the year.

The reviews here are not exaggerations. Despite several visits to the USA we had never been aware of the existence of B&Bs there until we found this one during early trip planning. Glenn and Jane welcomed us into their lovely home home and were unfailingly friendly, generous and helpful, providing not just hospitality but great advice too during our three day stay. Breakfasts were original in concept and immaculately presented. They clearly love the business they run and have achieved a faultless standard.
