“Fillin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

A little shop that takes you back in time in Butte's history. The pasties are very filling and we really like the Chili Smothered Pasty. There is something for the kids too which we have very picky kids so that was nice.

“Taste of Butte culture”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

Here's the thing, pasties aren't great. Get gravy or put lots of ketchup on it because they're a bland type of food. However, this is a Butte original. The atomosphere and the watistaff are refelctive of the culture here. If you're in Butte, it's a good way to get a taste of a Butte tradition but if you're looking for great food, this isn't the place to go.

“YUMMY! DELICIOUS PASTIES!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2011

We finally had the opportunity to go to this place after my husband saw it on Man v. Food some time ago. The pasties were outrageously delicious!! Pasties are quite a Montana tradition and if you get the chance go try one. Huge and yummy for the tummy!!! While we were in there someone was ordering 18 to be taken back to Seattle--now that should tell you something!!

“A great place to experience a local culinary tradition”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

Pasty's are a Montana tradition in mining country having been brought here by the Welsh and Cornish miners. They are a thick pastry shell filled with meat and potatoes. Although they are plain, simple food they are tasty and make for an inexpensive lunch. I'm not sure I'll go back for another one, but it is definitely part of the local heritage and worth experiencing. Our server suggested getting ours with gravy, since they can be a bit dry; that was a good suggestion.

“If you like pasties don't miss Joe's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2011

While spending the night in Butte, we heard about Joe's Pasty Shop. My great-grandmother came from Cornwall so they were a tradition when I was growing up but I just can't make them and I miss them. Joe's is small, friendly and the pasties are excellent. I also had raspberry pie and it was wonderful too. You can get them to eat in or take out and they also had other things on the menu in case you're not a pasty fan. My husband had the homemade chicken noodle soup and he said it was very good.
