Actually this is better than Safeway's--the chicken seemed fresh although fried a little darker than I would like. The fried breading looked tough but was light and crispy, actually feel into shards when bitten into. You order at the counter and then the service folk bring your order to the table, not quite table service but they are trying. Outside seating is in the back - small area and pretty hot and windless so we sat inside. The interior is open to the air but there are fans whirring which helps some. Because the location is so close to the street and the table are fairly close set, I would not call it peaceful but it is nice. I liked the vintage pinafore aprons of the female serving staff. I had the house salad with pear, pecans, bacon, etc. I had them omit the chicken since I was also having a fried thigh. What with the bacon and nuts, the salad is rich and pretty sweet. Have them put the vinaigrette dressing on the side--I wish I had. My friend had a fried chicken sandwich which she enjoyed greatly.
