“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

Forget West Yellowstone! Drive another 45 miles and stay here. The biscuits and gravy on the breakfast spread are the best I have ever had.

Room Tip: Just go, you won't be disappointed.

Really liked Buck's, it had friendly staff, cozy rooms(which were quite clean), good value, and a tasty breakfast. Its location near Big Sky made it the perfect spot to rest after a long day on your boards, and is cheaper than staying in one of the lodges there. I would stay there again and reccomend this to a friend.

Everything I could find about this place boasted about their great restaurant. We booked a 2-night stay so that we could see for ourselves. What a let-down! On arrival we were greeted by a sign in the lobby that said:

Bar: closed
Restaurant: closed
Pub: closed

I feel strongly that they should have told me that when I booked. Oh yeah, the famous hot tubs...closed as well. What a rip-off! The maid didn't even change the sheets when it was CLEAR that they needed to be changed. The complimentary breakfast (6:30 - 9:30) was cold at 9:00 am and shut down at 9:10. When I asked if the empty milk pitcher could be refilled a kitchen worker brought out exactly 6 ounces for the two of us to share. The staff couldn't care less. Once you've booked...you're screwed. This place is an average motel with an above average price tag. There are many other choices in Big Sky. Pick one of them instead!

Room Tip: You won't get a choice. They'll put you where it requires the least amount of effort on thei...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I'm sorry your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Our restaurant opened for the summer season June 8, unfortunately after your stay with us. While we make every effort to indicate this to our callers and online, obviously we failed to get this message to you during the booking process.

Our hot tubs, however, have not been closed at all, so your perception that they were concerns me. We do leave the covers closed when not in use in order to best conserve the heat, but there is a sign indicating that they are opened on demand. I will revisit the location of that sign to ensure guests are not under the impression that they are unavailable. Once again, I apologize for your inconvenience.

We stay 3 nights and had 2 rooms, the hotel has been renovated earlier and still going under renovations. The rooms were good and clean.
As we came between seasons, the restaurant was closed (thank you for not telling us when we booked!
The staff doesn't car at all, really. We had a leak under the window and the alarm clock didn't work but nothing was done. The 3 staff we talked to were more interested by the front desk computer than anythng else. Well... they won't see us again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask is the bar and restaurant are open and if the front desk is ok to open the hot tubs...

I stayed at Buck's T-4 in the latter part of the President's Birthday week in February, and I highly recommend it for a combination of value, service, convenience to Big Sky for skiing (15 minute drive, or free 20 minute shuttle bus), and an absolutely outstanding gourmet restaurant. The restaurant and the great hot tubs (very large - like hot jetted pools) are reason enough to stay here. I highly recommend that people consider staying here rather than slopeside - and spending the saved the money on the outstanding restaurant and top-notch wine list. My ski area season pass (Crystal Mtn in WA) offers free skiing if I stay in Big Sky lodging, but I chose instead to stay at Buck's (so I had to pay 50% to ski). It still worked out better, and my son and I really enjoyed the place. Also, it was convenient to have the large free buffet breakfast and the microwave and fridge in the room. Highly recommended.

Great rates with a lift ticket package. Easy drive up to ski area and other attractions. Great restaurant (we ate there 2 of the 3 nights we were there). AWESOME breakfast! Everyplace has a simple "complimentary breakfast" these days but this is a REAL breakfast. Freshly cooked eggs and potatoes. A rotation of bacon/ham/sausage along with coffee juice, fruit cereal etc. What a great way to start a busy day on the slopes!

Rooms are nice and spacious. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable and clean. The hot tubs were the largest hot tubs I've ever seen. A great way to unwind after skiing. Just a great place at a great price.
