“So much fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Great ski resort. Low crowds and tons of runs. Our family has several different ski levels and Moonlight has plenty for all. Amazing views, nice staff and reasonable yummy food. Spoke with the locals who were all very friendly and wiling to share their favorite spots.

This is a favorite place of ours in Big Sky for a glass of wine or a nice dinner. The restaurant is wonderful and the bar menu is better than a normal ski lodge by far. Wine and beer selection is definitely good. We stayed in the Saddle Ridge condos next door.

The spa and gym facilities are quite expensive for how little they offer.

One major complaint is the terrible and undependable internet service. They advertise free wifi, but it rarely works.

We just stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin and it was awesome! The cabin itself is very clean and has everything you need. We were suprised to find a washer and dryer along with laundry detergent. The views were so incredible. I highley recommend staying at Moonlight Basin.

Room Tip: It appeared all cabins had an excellent view.

We were attending a wedding at moonlight basin resort. We stayed in a cabin with two bedrooms a little way up from the main lodge.

The views were amazing and the cabin cozy and comfortable.

My kids tried out the pool at the main lodge and had fun. It is much smaller than what it looked like in the picture. We hired a nanny to watch the kids the next evening during the wedding and the kids wanted to go swimming. They closed the pool early because of the wedding and were a bit disappointed. They used the hot tub at our cabin instead.

There are really no directions to the lodge for check-in. You drive up from Big Sky and hit a round about and no indication as to what to do from there. I ended up calling at that point because I couldn't figure out which way to go. After finding the lodge and getting a map that indicated our cabin it was much easier. I eventually saw a little sign that indicated the way after a few switchbacks.

Also our GPS worked the whole way until we hit the round about. We found that helpful since we had never driven in Montana before.

Management very inflexible to renters. Only allow their PRIVATE ROAD access to Moonlight Basin "Members". If you are traveling around MT, esp. SW - to Ennis, Dillion, etc. - can add 90 plus minutes to your travel time each way... If you are a fisherman, could eliminate such world class rivers such as the Ruby, Beaverhead, Big Hole & others...

Thanks for sharing your review with us. We are sorry to hear that you were inconvenienced trying to access the private Jack Creek Rd. Yes, this road is only open to property owners, Moonlight Club members and their guests. In fact access to the road only saves you 20 minutes(Big Sky-Ennis via the Jack Creek Rd: 1 hour 30 minutes -vs- Big Sky-Ennis via 191: 1 hour 50 minutes). The Gallatin Canyon and Highway 191 is the main route for travel and offers beautiful views, world class fishing, whitewater rafting, etc. on the Gallatin River.

I added the lavender calendula salt scrub to my massage, feeling like my skin had been a little overexposed this summer. It was the perfect choice- gently exfoliating my skin with a calming, but not overpowering scent. It relaxed me prior to the massage even a little more than the serenity room typically does. I've never done a scrub prior to a massage and was surprised at how much more the oils seemed to nourish my skin throughout the treatment. Definitely going to be a consistent addition for me.

Stayed in "3A" luxury suite for 5 nights. Drive is scenic and beautiful. Area has shopping and groceries on the resort. Views are breathtaking. Our condo was absolutely spectacular. Moonlight makes it feel as though your private home is a hotel room. The clerk at the check-in/concierge desk told us we had to pay for wifi (contrary to the ad), which was corrected a few days later. Besides that, the stay was amazing. Caution to those who don't enjoy mountain drives.
