“horseback riding and cookout”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

First trip to MT/Yellowstone, took my 7 year old daughter. The guides, Kristi and Andi, were great with the horses, and Charlie was incredible with the food he prepared for the cookout after returning from riding horses. In addition to their friendliness, everyone was very knowledgeable about the terrain and wildlife. This group is very highly recommended!

“Family Adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

After being told of a number of outfitters for Horse Back Riding near Big Sky, Montana we settled on Cache Creek. Mickey and Charlie (owners) could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Chris (our guide) was great with the kids and the horses. It was the highlight of our trip to Montana.

“2 hour trail ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

My 9 year old daughter and I did a 2 hour ride in the Gallatin National Forest. Christy was our guide and the ride was just the 3 of us. She was great with the horses and made my daughter very comfortable even after he horse spooked briefly early in the ride. My daughter has had some introductory horse back riding lessons which helped her navigate the narrow and sometimes steep trails. I'm not sure how young kids would do without any horse experience but Christy said most of them just hang on and dont really manuever the horses so I think it is doable if your kid isn't intimidated. The ride was on a beautiful trail that provides great views of Lone Peak, Spanish Peaks, etc. Much of it is in open meadows so take sunscreen, water and a hat. You also go through a lot of shaded wooded areas and cross a few small streams. I hadnt been on a horse in 18 years but besides having a very sore lower back afterwards it was no problem. We loved Big Sky and this was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

“No need to look further!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

This was our first trip to Big Sky and we used Cache Creek Outfitters for fly fishing, horseback riding, and for the cowboy cookout! Everything was wonderful. Charlie is a great fisherman and we all had a great day on the Yellowstone River. Tony was our other guide for the day and he was great too! We had a lovely day on the river and caught some fish!
Horseback riding was top notch. Our guide Ryan was nice, calm and very knowledgeable. He was a pleasure to ride with.
The cowboy cookout with Charlie is tons of fun and you will not leave hungry. The food was delicious -prime rib, salmon, roasted potatoes, asparagus and pineapple upside down cake all cooked in an antique oven on top of a mountain with gorgeous views.
Charlie is a guy you won't easily forget!

“Fly Fishing with Charlie...AWESOME experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

My boyfriend and I had our first trip to Montana and wanted to try fly fishing. Found his website and talked to Charlie a few times on the phone beforehand about the time of year we were going (May) and our level of expertise (zero) and he could not have been more helpful and positive (great attitude this guy!). We knew Charlie was our guy and called him as soon as we got to Montana.

We didn't know what to expect but WOW - Charlie started talking about the area and the history as soon as we got in his truck (we had a little drive to the Madison River from Bozeman) and he seems to know everything. What a likeable and genuine guy. He was the perfect guide for us once we got on the river - the guy was always doing SOMETHING with us at every moment. Fly fishing is all about technique and Charlie had this down pat. Spent time with us, was supportive and in the hours we were out there, never stopped for any break or anything. He's going to make sure you know what you're doing and catch fish! He was so focused and helpful.

He spotted an Eagle soaring high above and pointed it out (we saw a beaver in the water too)...and when we did catch fish (and we did thanks to him), Charlie took the time to point out the type of fish and why it had the markings it had - it was a very cool experience.

Between just listening to this nice, knowledgeable guy, and the fishing experience itself (the Madison River is stunning and Charlie knows all the hot spots!) - we made a memory that will last a lifetime. Thanks Charlie!
