“Nice hotel and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

We stayed this hotel for 5 days and we were able to upgrade to executive floor, the lodge is ok, not that crowded, but the room is fine, first night due to out kid, we add a roll way bed, but the blanket on those bed were so heavy and not warm at all, my daughter start having fever, so I went to the desk talk to the people, they were nice and tried very hard to get a 2 beds room for us. we enjoyed our stay.

I stay at this Marriott property on a regular basis for business. The staff is always friendly and informative. The rooms are quiet and clean. They have a good fitness facility and there are wooded trails for walking right out the door. There is plenty of shopping and great places to eat nearby. It has a very good restaurant and plenty of parking.

Executive King corner room was a bargain at $129/night, but had drawbacks. Housekeeping did not clean our room until after 4pm, once I called the front desk. (They were busy cleaning rooms of people already checked out - don't we have priority?) Windows do not open at all for fresh air and are not the cleanest. Hot water (in Room 501) was lacking - had to run it for 10 minutes before a shower. Bed fine.

Bistro downstairs is unremarkable, dinner service level was abysmal.

Note: Entrance needs better signage. The only two signs are Marriott Parking (a self park garage) and Scottrade, but there is NO sign that says Marriott Registration or Lobby.

This Motel was not as good as most Marriots but nice just the same. Staff was nice and accomodating. Rooms were clean and well atired. Facilities needed some up grade but all in all they were fine. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This is the best hotel in the Chesterfield area to stay at for any reason. I stay there 4 to 6 times a year and have never been disappointed in the front desk staff or their facilities The restaraunt staff is pretty good and the foo up to par.....They would do well to offer airport rides to the airport as a courtesy service. Do not use the limos that hang out fron as they are rude and charge all the money.I have been there and used the service a few times and was not happy with that service but it is not owned by the hotel or chain.

Room Tip: All of them are good, I like the higher floors

Dear Bigbrothercfg,
Thank you for selecting the Marriott St. Louis West again on your travels through St. Louis. We share all of our guest comments with our associates and especially those of our frequent travelers, we love feedback, and we celebrate great feedback. Just a note, we are checking on your comments regarding the outside limo service, overcharging and rude behavior is something we take seriously. You are correct that we utilize outside vendors for airport transportation but we only want to recommend those who exceed guest expectation.

We stayed for 3 nights while taking part in a sports event, and were pretty disappointed.
The good: The room itself was nice, if a little noisy due to metal steps next door which made loud clanging noises. Breakfast buffet was also really good. We also were able to check in really early, which was very good, as we had been on an overnight train and not slept.

The bad:
- No free in room internet. When booking, we understood that wifi had a charge, but that a wired service would be available. The info book provided in the room told us to ask at reception for cables to hook up our laptop. But, these cables are no longer available, as the hotel has 'now gone wireless'. So, if you want internet in your room you have to pay $10. Echoing gdr3, you can get free wifi in $40 motels, so this seems a bit steep to me.
- One morning we asked for a cab to be booked to take us to our event, and were told the hotel shuttle would take us, which was terrific. The driver was really pleasant, and asked if we needed a ride back later. As we weren't sure what time we would be done, she handed us a business card and told us to call, and that the last pick up was 10.30pm. Using our UK cell phones, we called about 8pm to ask to be picked up. The very rude receptionist refused to pick us up, and said that the shuttle didn't go to the sports complex we were at, despite our arguments that they had brought us there that morning.
- When we checked out, we checked that no charges had been made to our card. Initially, we were told that one days breakfast had been charged, as we only got two days breakfast included. When we complained that this was incorrect, the receptionist went to find out more and came back with a bill for some other food that we had apparently had. Again, we said this was incorrect and we had not had any other food, to which she responded 'Well, that is YOUR signature'. It clearly wasn't, and it was quite clearly a different name printed on the bill, as well as a different room number, which we pointed out to her.
- when the room was made up, coffee and creamer weren't replaced, so we had to go down to reception to get more.

This things were all slight irritations, and with good customer service/free drink/coffee I would have been completely placated. But, instead the reception staff just didn't seem to care and treated us like irritants when we complained, and did nothing to make our stay better. Instead, I just got more and more frustrated with multiple instances of bad service!

Cab drivers seemed to find it a little difficult to find the place, with one circling the area 2/3 times, even when given the full address....

Room Tip: Room 502 was right next to clangy iron stairs that made a lot of noise in the evening as people went...
