“Witchy Weekend was a scream!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2009

We had some friends that recommended this weekend since we have 3 children. The third night free the resort offered closed the deal and made it extremely affordable for us to skeak in a pre-halloween getaway. Upon arrival the resort was nicely decorated...the kids immediately became excited. We checked into a lakeside cottage that was clean and well kept. You could tell that the owners had been keepng up with the times with a resort that has been passed down thru the generatioins. There were planned activities all weekend including a scavenger hunt, carnival-like games, Bar-B-Que, trick or treating, and a haunted hay ride. The haunted hayride was our favorite with live spooks...it was a scream! We visited with a gentleman and his wife at the Bar-B-Que that have been coming to this resort for over 20 years. They obviously liked it. We tend to agree after our experience and plan on making plans for a summer vacation.

Had some time off with the little ones (2yr & 4 yr old) so we planned a trip to the Lake. Came across Lakeview Resort on the internet. Found the website very informative with lots of photos, even of interiors and view from decks. Upon checking in we found ourselves wanting to adopt the front desk clerk as a grand mother she was so pleasant and nice to our children - scored major points by letting them choose a toy from a treasure chsest. We found our cottage to be neat and clean with a well equipped kitchen. Our cottage was set right on the waters edge which offered great sunrises across the water. The resort coverd 3 penninsulas and presented a rustic setting, which was no surprise since we had read the history of the resort on the website, that stated it had been family owned for 64 years by the same family. Just a real pleasant experience if your looking for a family resort that isn't a lot of glam and glitter.

My family loved this resort, the employees were very polite and everything was in order when we arrived. The indoor and outdoor pool was great and all of the ammenities were wonderful. It was easy to get to and was close to restaurants and all sorts of entertainment places. We were able to rent a boat or whatever we wanted to go on the lake with. I suggest that if you have a family, this would be the best place to take them for a vacation.

We just came back from our week long trip to this resort. I had 2 grandparents, 2 teenagers and an 8 yr old in cabin #31.

You cannot beat the view or location of this resort, right on lake and on bays off lake. It had a great playground, nice tennis courts (lighted), and a nice pool for young and older kids. It also had an indoor pool with hot tub. There is bikini pier with wave runner and boat rentals. It also offered para sailing. Pools were a little cloudy but not bad. They also had arcade and exercise room. Tons of covered boat docks with easy access. There was also a heated crappie house with TV and two outside areas to fish as well. Boat ramp was OK. Pebble beach is small and drops off quick, I did see boats leaving for the day to sand beaches somewhere.

My cabin was updated from what I could tell and was clean and a little old in some aspects but I have been in worse. Bedrooms are small but all your doing is sleeping right. You may not be able to put and air mattress down for a stray sleeper. All came with dishes, cups and cooking pots and utensils. We also had a newer charcoal grill.

In terms of access to local markets and restaurants that was a bit of a drive but not to bad. You do have to drive about 1/2 block to get bait and about a mile or two to get fishing license. Supermarket was 7+ miles away and restaurants were anywhere from 2 - 15 miles away. You will have to pay $2.50 each way on the toll bridge to get into the main drags of Osage Beach or Bagnell Dam area unless you take the long way around the lakes.

We brought a small 14' aluminum rowboat with a 25 horse motor for tooling around and fishing. This boat was to small for this lake during the day as the boat traffic caused some pretty heavy chop all day. At night the lake is glass as the boats disappear.

This is a decent resort with a bit of the rustic feel to the cabins. If your looking for immaculate don't go here. If your looking for a good time with cabins with a bit of rustic feel to them then you may like it.

On the lake is the ONLY redeeming quality, this place is terrible. Spent three nights in 4 bedroom cabin. This is not a resort do not be fooled, no restaurant or bar, no area to meet with family except next to a parking lot. These are very run down cabins in need of complete renovation or tear down. We stayed in cabin 45, right next door to reception area. I knew we were off to a bad start, when upon arrival they told my husband they were out of towels. In this unit there are four bedrooms, one of which has a murphy bed and was right between the kitchen and living room, no privacy, but did have a lake view. Kitchen was basic, and bathrooms are vintage 1973. On second day we had a roof leak, maintenance people were prompt in bringing old dirty towels to soak up water. Everything in the unit is old and has not been taken care of, decks were old and rough. Kids enjoyed outdoor pool and play area. The whole place may have been decent back in the '70's, but unless you are nostalgic for that era, I would keep looking.

Overall, the resort is in need of a great deal of maintenance. The listed description for our unit was not completely accurate. It did not have the DVD player it was supposed to have and the nearest unit was much closer than disclosed in the listing. The bottom shelf of the refrigerator was broken and would not hold heavy objects. The walls of the living room and kitchen were heavily scratched, giving the impression the unit had not been painted in a very long time. We only used one of the two entrances to the unit because the second one could not be unlocked from the outside. The resort does not allow pets, but don't be fooled into thinking you won't be kept awake by a barking dog at the private residences also located on the same point (right across the street for some units). The indoor pool was not clean enough to see the bottom which is always concerning. Landscaped areas of the resort were overgrown with weeds.

On the upside - The kids enjoyed the play equipment and the docks were in good shape. It's a nice location and point on the lake. However, there's another resort on the same point that will get my business next time.

The people that ran the place were nice, and the cabin (#31) was small but fine. The problems were there were cockroaches that would surface in the morning. It looked like they had sprayed because there were dead ones we'd find, but still...they were huge. There was a fight between some parents that broke out in the playground with children all around. There is one dock that is falling apart. There are bits of foam and trash from it (and the people who stay there) floating around in the water all around the resort. Very dirty lake water. It just seemed like there were way too many people crowded into tiny cabins that are very close to each other, and it was a rough crowd.
