This was a business trip, but the hotel site for our convention was booked full, nearest chain a mile away, so booked this B&B just across the street. The big hotel was $130 +/-, this B&B was about $90, so my boss will be pleased with the expense. The place is well decorated with antiques, fresh home made cookies in the room, a minifridge with complementary soft drinks in the upper parlor. The staff was pleasant and friendly, check in/out was easy, breakfast was great, served on my schedule. Will visit again next time.

I found the Walnut Street Inn to be a haven of rest from
the maddening crowds of the modern world.
The accomodations were comfortable and the staff was
helpful and friendly without being obtrusive and over-
bearing.
The food was excellent and nicely presented.
It was a pleasant change of pace from the sterile surroundings
of modern business hotels.

My friend and I each booked a room in the main house on the 2nd floor. It was so nice, because the 3 rooms upstairs have their own living room. The McCann room and the Rosen rooms were both lovely. They each have their own bath and little refrigerator and coffee maker. Both mornings the breakfast was delicious. They checked with us the night before to be sure we liked the menu.
The McCann room has a nice gas fireplace that kept me toasty.

  • Liked — Friendly greetings, location, quiet.

We spent our first Valentine's Day together at the Walnut Street Inn in the Findley Suite. The Findley is located two houses down from the main inn and is a lovely, private get away. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. There is a very large four poster feather bed that is incredibly comfortable.

The staff was very accomodating of our special requests for the evening and put champagne and rose petals in the room and lit candles all over the suite when we were away for dinner. It was romantic and comfortable. We would stay there again!

  • Liked — The staff was very accomodating.
  • Disliked — I would prefer a solid door instead of a swinging door for the commode area.

We just returned from our stay at the Walnut Inn and rushed to write what a pleasant experience we had there. It is a charming building with lovely rooms and an excellent location. The staff is warm and attentive and they made us feel welcomed. Great breakfasts, a beautiful room (the Robertson), and a nightly baked treat made our visit to Springfield an excellent one!

As fellow innkeepers, we know of the work that is involved in offering guests the type of experience we received at the Walnut Inn and we applaude them in a job done very well. We will gladly return!
