“Once again. Disappointing.”
We like to try new restaurants from time to time. Truth be told my better half can cook, even has a food service degree. So sometimes I feel we are just too hard on places and try to be polite about it. However that can only go so far. We had been there for lunch and vowed never to return. But they have changed their name since then, hmmm. So when family came visiting and wanted to try a "Brazilian" place. My heart sank, I hoped it wasn't but once we got close I recognized the building.
It's confusing. Mostly to the staff. First off, they have "meat plates", small metal plates that you can use to send things back if they are underdone. They will come back well done with a good char, not burned. Looked like right on the grill judging for the marks. These plates should have been brought first, they weren't. Even tho it was a table of 4 we only had 2 return plates.
Second the waitress only brings drinks but no food... ok. The roaming meat cutters wander the floor, after someone goes into the kitchen to shoo them back out form their hiding spot. Then they randomly bounce from table to table, but not every table. One guy stopped at our table 4 times! I wanted to ask him if he had ADHD. Others never made it over there without prompting. On the other hand if you DO want more of something GOOD LUCK. There isn't any one person you can ask. Do you ask the waitress? The last meat cutter/server? We did ask the waitress, who for the most part was trying to be helpful but answered us with "I'll try and tell them you want more "X" but they don't always listen to us." The oddest part was we wanted to try the CHICKEN. You'd think it'd be hard to get the expensive steak but it was chicken we had request about 3 times.
All that could have been forgiven until desert. We asked to see the desert cart, which was full and 2 tables away against the wall. Maybe it was all wax, the meat cutter we asked said "Oh sure, I think it's right over there." He wandered off and never came back. He did spend time talking to the next table though. They were from Egypt, and among other questions they were pestered with were "So have you seen the pyramids?" I felt bad from them having to entertain the guy while he got paid. In any case, I guess we asked the wrong person but by this time the waitress was no where to be found. I suspect she didn't want to get trampled. After about 5-10 minutes of being ignored we had to go and get the hostess to request a check.
Long story short, this place seem to need better training and better management. The wait staff seems to be uncoordinated and lazy. Even poor food is better with good service but the best food is awful with bad service. The food itself was so-so for the most part.
Don't be fooled if they change their name again either!
