Apr 21, 2009 | Trip type: Couples

We stayed April 18, 2009 using a coupon from one of those books found at rest stops. Room for 2 was just less than $60 and that is the max that this room was worth. Very new hotel, decent furniture, king bed had multiple pillows and was very comfortable.

This hotel is located 3 blocks from I44 in a very industrial area, about a mile from restaurants. One side of the hotel faced the parking lot, the other side faced a truck tire recap/repair place. We stayed on the side of the repair place and on a weekend when the tire place was closed. I would be very unhappy if I were woke very early in the morning by the sound of the "beep, beep, beep" of the trucks backing up! Stay on the parking lot side!

Breakfast is another issue. Or non-breakfast. Very weak coffee, stale bagels, not much other bakery, small selection of cereal. Milk and juice were available. There was no attendant, but a sign said to go to the front desk if anything was needed. We went to Waffle House a short distance away and had a wonderful breakfast.

As we were leaving, I told the desk person that there were ants in the room, both in the bathroom and also on the desk. He apologized and said that maybe someone spilled something on the desk and attracted the ants. I told him that did not explain the ants in the bathroom. He then said that maybe the ants came in because it was raining outside!

We are happy you enjoyed your room during your stay here.

Our hotel is located in a mainly residential part of town, just down the road from the brand new airport. There are a couple of businesses around us but we are surrounded by homes.

The tire repair shop extra parking is on the north side of the hotel, the tire business entrance and service bays are on the other side of the tire business, far away from the hotel rooms.

There are 2 restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, a dozen more within 1/2 mile of the hotel.

I am sorry the breakfast was not up to your expectations. We were very busy that morning with many guests, mostly college students, and we put out more food anytime we were informed by guests that we needed to or the breakfast front desk clerk noticed we needed more donuts / muffins / danish / waffles / fresh bagels / fresh fruit. If you had mentioned to the clerk she would have been happy to put more food out for you and checked the bagels, replacing them if necessary.

It is hard to please everyone with our coffee - most of the comments on the comment cards the guests leave for us tell us the coffee is perfect. We have made it stronger a couple of times and had many guests complain.

I am very sorry about the ants. We usually do not have them and housekeeping went to the room immediately to look / treat for them. We do have monthly pest control and this is the only complaint we have had in past 9 months
( that I have worked here ).

Thank you
Nancy

We Pricelined a room here enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the staff was helpful, and the pool was small (and a little cold) but was fine for out 4&6 year olds. Springfield is pretty easy to get around so the location is not an issue.

Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again !

Our indoor pool is heated but the pool room is not. March weather in Missouri can change 40 degrees in a 24 hour period so it is hard to regulate the temperature in that room.

The heater on the pool is set 2 degrees warmed than is required for Ramada Corporate office.

For some people the pool is too cold, for others too hot, and for some, just right !

My family stayed here one night only. When we checked in our room's door was already unlocked. We found out that unless you pulled the door up when you were closing it, it would not lock. Since we were only going to be here one night we figured we'd let that pass. The next morning, my daughters and I went down to get breakfast. It wasn't much to speak about but not the worst we've seen either. We ended up with 4 bowls of cereal, 4 bagels/toast and 4 glasses of OJ. We piled it up and proceeded to take it back to our hotel room where my husband was still asleep. The mgr on duty stopped us and told us that we could NOT take anything out of the breakroom. We had to eat it there! So we put it all down on a table and left. There were no signs posted to say this, just this woman's word. I wanted to write a complaint to the hotel owner, but the same mgr did not understand enough English to give me the details I needed, name and phone number or address. So I called the customer support for Ramada Worldwide. They assigned a case number and said they would follow up. I received a letter from them, later, stating that the owner would get in contact with me within 7 working days. Well, it's over a month later and no reply. I called Ramada again and was told that the owner had called in and told them that I was trying to take food for 6 people to my room and was told I could take food for 2 only. This was an OUTRIGHT lie! The same owner claims they sent me an apology and a coupon for 20% off my next stay. I never received that letter or coupon and I will NEVER stay here again!

Hotel has not had any complaints about guest’s room/door prior to or since guest’s stay with us. Hotel was not aware that guest was having any problems with the room. Guest safety is a priority with us and we would have been happy to move guest if they had told us they were having problems and wanted to change rooms.

The hotel does have a sign in the breakfast room, hanging over our waffle / muffin / Danish case that sits right next to the cereal containers. A guest getting cereal would have been standing right next to it. This same sign has been posted for years and can be verified by our corporate office that regulates all signage in the hotel.

The sign is white so it stands out against our walls, is 14 inches high by 24 inches wide with 2 inch bright red capital letters. It states:

“PLEASE ENJOY YOUR BREAKFAST IN OUR BREAKFAST ROOM.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE FOOD OUT OF BREAKFAST ROOM.”

The front desk clerk / breakfast attendant on duty does understand and speak English and would have given the guest a hotel business card with the owners name on it if she had been asked. These cards are also available at the check in/out desk in plain view for any guest to see and take with them.

The guest did file a complaint regarding these issues with our corporate office. We value our customers; realize that sometimes misunderstandings happen, so sent guest a letter with 20% off next stay coupon. We sent this even though we believe we were not at fault, nor were we required to do so by corporate office. The letter was mailed on 11/26/2008, 2 days after complaint was filed. We resent the letter on 1/8/2009 when we were informed guest had not received the first letter.

We are very sorry that guest feels she had a bad experience at our hotel and would welcome her here for another stay using 1 of the 20% coupons.

Thank you.

We want to warn anyone who might book this hotel in advance--should extenuating circumstances arrive to prevent you making your reservation, you will NOT get your $ refunded. We booked in advance using Priceline, and when we had car trouble w/2 small children and couldn't make the reservation (even though we called a few hours in advance to let them know and later faxed our repair bill), the owner flatly refused to refund our $. Using Priceline complicated matters b/c it took us hours just to find out who was responsible for refunding it. So don't book unless you're willing to lose your $ OR if you're very sure you will make the reservation. The owner DOES NOT deviate from his cancellation policy.

This guest did call the hotel on their day of arrival to inform us of their car problems and requested the hotel cancel the reservation because they did not think they would make it that night. The guest was informed their reservation was through Priceline and the hotel is legally unable to cancel the reservation. The guest was advised to call Priceline immediately and given the Priceline phone number.

Priceline did not call the hotel to request an extenuating circumstance courtesy cancellation so the rooms were held for the guest and hotel was not able to rent the rooms out for the evening. Since Priceline did not cancel the rooms, the hotel charged Priceline for the reservations.

The hotel did not hear from the guest again until 6 nights after the reservation. Guest filed a complaint with the corporate office stating that they had called the hotel, the hotel had cancelled the reservations but they did not have a cancellation number ( false statement ), and they did not know if the hotel had charged their credit card for the reservations ( they knew it was Priceline who had charged them ). The corporate office did not file complaint against the hotel, finding the guest's statements not valid.

The guest did fax their repair statement 6 days later, it was location, date and time stamped. The stamp's indicated that the guest could have still arrived at the hotel in the early evening and used the reservation.

The hotel has in the past cancelled reservations for extenuating circumstances as we realize things do happen. However, the guest did not follow clear instructions from when he made the Priceline reservation or when he called the hotel and was informed we can not legally cancel reservations made through a third party vendor. We were very busy that night and could have rented the rooms out.

The hotel makes every attempt to work with our guests as well as our vendors. We are very sorry the guest has experienced problems, however the hotel has full-filled it's obligations and are not liable for the guest not following through on their end.
