“Good and not so good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

We stayed here on our way to New Orleans. There is a nice drive going up to the hotel (a renovated assisted living facility) with a pond and even some ducks. Very nice entry with curved staircases and big lobby. The room was large with a big sitting area including a sleeper sofa and TV. The bedroom was a nice size as well as the bathroom. The decor is dated. The bed was comfortable and linens clean. The bathroom needed some updating but was adequate. The breakfast area was very big and could accommodate a lot of people and has courtyard areas. Breakfast itself was ok, nothing special. For us, getting in late and for the price we paid it was a good sleep stop.

Big Clean rooms and hotel. Remodeled assisted living facility into a hotel. Good breakfast and nice big breakfast room. Good for bus groups. Staff handled any questions we had quickly. Not within walking distance to food or drinks.

This hotel is just off the interstate all by itself. Very quiet. My biggest worry when traveling is security for my work vehicle. They made room for me to park up front of the hotel under the lights. But they also said in all the years they've been there they've not had any kind of problem with the cars being broken into.

The hotel is obviously in it's declining years, but still presentable. I had a 2 room suite for about $60 a night. The place is absolutely huge with 2 curving stairways to the 2nd floor and a grand piano in the lobby. It would have been a better presentation if they had the carpet repaired to remove the wrinkles across the floor.

Breakfast was mediocre, but at least there were some hot food choices. For the money, it was a good place to catch a few hours sleep.

I used this place as a stop on the way to New Orleans. It was hard to find. A big sign shines over the freeway, but the building itself didn't have any signs. I had to ask to make sure I was in the right place. Hopefully that gets addressed soon, as I know the name just changed.

The building was very cool, an older hotel where the wood floors creaked in the hallways :) The room was spacious, but the furniture had seen better days, and didn't inspire me to use. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was pretty good, but some of the tilework was pretty worn.

Overall, the place did the job, but I wouldn't use it for more than a rest stop.

We stayed on our way home, staff great, rooms spacious, lovely patio and pool. Excellent for the price. Rooms clean. Even though a bit older, still very comfortable. Breakfast area nice.
Will stay there again.

We stayed at the ABVI & S after a long day of driving. The hotel is somewhat dated but the important stuff was clean (bed and towels). The furniture looks like it has been there awhile. I was also concerned that my door lock wasn't completely locked - we used the chain. Still, it is a nice place to stay for a quick rest while traveling. For a total of $70, we had two queen beds and a separate room with a couch, chair and TV - quite a good value. They offer a free breakfast but we did not take advantage of it. Good location - right next to the interstate and plenty of places to eat nearby.
