“Great experience - took lots of pictures”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

My brother passed this way the previous week and recommended this restaurant to us. There were over sixty people waiting to get in, but they handle the crowds very well, so we only had a fifteen minute wait. The food was good and there was plenty of it, and that's not even counting all the food they ply you with once you start in on whatever you ordered. The interior decor and the spectacle of the "throwed rolls" keep us entertained. Be aware that they only take cash - no checks or plastic - but they have an ATM so you can get some cash if you need it.

“Country eatin' at it's best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Barbecue pork, okra and grits all on one plate, thought I died and went to Dixie heaven! Food is very good. Portions are huge. Atmosphere is fun. Don't fret over which 2 sides you order; they come around and give you scoops of every side order on the menu. The rolls are soft and yeasty. Yum!

“Country Bear Jamboree”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Think of a cross between Cracker Barrel, Fudruckers and Green Acres. That's Lamberts. All of the staff are costumed in jeans, blue work shirts and red suspenders. They all look like Eddie Albert's farm hand on 'Green Acres'. Lambert's claim to fame is the 'Roll Toss'. A kid pushing a cart of very hot rolls cruises the cavernous restaurant's confines and pitches rolls to enthusiastic customers and in fact; The rolls are some of the best I've ever eaten. The decor of this place consists of hundreds of auto license plates nailed to the walls, dusty go-carts mounted on high wide shelves, antique magazine ads and fake life-sized trees that look like they were purchased from Disney's magic kingdom when they shut down their Country Bear Jamboree show.

Cheapest thing on the menu is a hamburger which goes for $9.99. Most entrees are priced between $10 and $15. Portions are large and tasteless. There appears to be a shortage of salt and pepper in the kitchen. After you place an order the food hits the table in 2 minutes flat. I'm not kidding. During dinner, roving bands of servers dish out what are called 'pass-a-longs'. Things like fried potatoes, fried Okra, macaroni and black eyed peas. There's enough food served per table to feed a platoon.

Drinks are served in 1 quart red plastic mugs. Cash only as no credit cards are accepted. There's a large gift shop attached so if you find yourself taken by the red plastic mugs you can outfit your table back home. Somehow I resisted.

“Fun Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

This restaurant is all about the experience. The food is good. The rolls are great - especially with butter and molasses. I don't like okra, but they do a great deep fried recipe. Great place to go for celebrations as they announce your occasion for all to cheer. Rolls flying all over the place, fun little shops to look at. Be prepared to wait as many folks apparently think Lambert's is great too.
