“Charming, authentic restoration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Nothing worn or shabby about this historic hotel, but nothing cutesy or trendy either. Every restoration of an historic property should be done this authentically and tastefully. Architecture, furnishings, fixtures, decor are all 1920s. Staff show genuine care for guests. The restaurant is a match for the lobby and rooms. Our entrées were interesting and excellent. The cobbler for dessert was some kind of failed experiment: the only serious negative of our stay. Lots of free parking: lots and lots and lots. Downtown Sedalia is nearly a ghost town, most businesses having moved to Highway 50. On the other hand, a splendid KATY museum is a short walk from the hotel, well worth a visit.

It's historic and beautiful. When we arrived the elavator was out. Not a problem they had the service elevator up and running. But we took the stairs for fun. 7th floor is the top! After a wonderful bath in a tub from probably the 20's. Went to the lounge for a little solitude and wine. Found it! Loved the entire place!! Would go back again!

The hotel looks promising from the time you first see the front door covered by an old fashioned awning. Step inside and it doesn't disappoint - very small but lovely lobby and quaint elevators. Our room was very spacious with a separate living area and the bed was very, very comfy. Surrounding area has seen better days but provides a nice stroll and imagining days gone by. Sweet girl at check in. Not impressed by the tiny, boring gift shop nor the restaurant there, but that wouldn't keep me from returning. It's a pleasant retreat from cookie cutter plain Jane hotel chains for your senses.

Room Tip: One of my sister's room was much smaller than mine, and one had a separate bedroom which made bo...

Our daughter and son-in-law had their wedding reception at the Bothwell Hotel. From the first time we had visit this venue the staff were so helpful and receptive to our needs. From the rooms for our guests to the every details of the party. The hotel is a beautiful facility for a wedding reception, with the elegance and charm. The dinner was outstanding!!! Great food, served buffet style. The staff was wonderful to work with taking care of our every need. The hotel has been updated, but remains an historic landmark of the past, with the beautiful chandeliers, furniture and gold leaf cornices. Exceptional!!! It is very clean! The manager, Alex was a joy to work with always making sure of the details were attend to with a cool and professional manner. GREAT MEMORIES! TKS

Room Tip: The room with a living room is where we stayed. The Happy Couple stayed in the jacuzzi for two roo...

A remodeled historic hotel, I found this to be a treat. The bed and linens were totally amazing. Flat screen TV. Really really nice desk staff. Dinner in the IvoryGrill was excellent with lots of vegetables (remember where you are).

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are quite small but very nice for one person.

I stayed here one night while cycling on the Katy Trail. For an old hotel, it has been decently modernized. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are small, but the amenities are modern including the TV, HVAC, and WiFi service. The only drawback in my 6th-floor room was low water pressure, but it was sufficient for my purposes.

This hotel is a great place to stay . The staff are great. The only thing that was wrong , was the restaurant and bar was not open , when we were there. This hotel is in the town and very close to some restaurant..
