“There are better places to stay at comparable prices.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

First off, there was terrible smell permeating the fourth floor. It smelled like sewage and urine. Also, I was told that it was a non-smoking hotel. Cigarette butts littered the halls and stairwells. The pool was disgusting. The water was a murky brownish green. The bathrooms need updating. The wallpaper in mine was peeling from the walls. Also, the shower was terrible. It switched from scalding hot to freezing at least three times. The staff could care less about anything. I had to call security a couple of times because there were constantly people yelling and running in the halls. Nothing was done. Early in the evening of my stay, there was a small mishap with the sprinklers (apparently someone left an iron on) that resulted in water flooding the fourth floor hallway. It had yet to be addressed by the next morning.

This one was kind of a mixed bag. The hotel itself is a little weird. It's older, and the once super-cool 70's architecture is starting to look a bit cliché and dated. Not really their fault, but a little weird none the less. What they could do something about is the relative raggedy-ness of the place. Everything about it is acceptable, but not great. It all looks a bit worn and in need of an update. The walls are thin and you can hear EVERYTHING. Plus when we were there the upper floors were freezing for some reason. It was extra cold out, but it almost seemed as if the heaters weren't working at all.

The location is also both a plus and a minus. It's right downtown in the middle of everything so it’s very convenient. It's pretty much across the street from the Dome and a bunch of conference centers. It's also just a block or two from downtown restaurants and the City Museum. But it's also right downtown in the middle of everything which means it’s full of people who are rowdy and having a good time. Nothing wrong with that, but as I said, the walls are very thin.

I would have given this hotel a three but it was saved by the staff. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic. When I expressed interest in the City Museum, the desk guy automatically looked up the hours, printed me out a map, explained the parking situation and found some kind of coupon. When we came back a few hours later, we wandered into the bar to ask what restaurants would deliver to the hotel. The bartender (I think her name was Catherine) pulled out a huge binder of menus, made some suggestions and even let us use her phone to place the order. We waited in the bar for the food to arrive and when it did the waiter brought us some real silverware and napkins to enjoy it with. We ended up staying down in the bar for a couple hours talking with both the staff and some other people who were in for a concert.

All in all for the price it's just okay but the staff was fantastic!

Very loud. People slamming doors, yelling in the hallway. I got very little sleep. The pool is very small and the water is green! Then they told me I did not need my parking validate and when I tried to pull out they said I had to go back to the hotel if I did not want to pay. There was one very nice and efficient lady in the restaurant.
