Description: Located in central loft district on Washington Avenue, this stunning modern fusion restaurant is an eye-pleasing mix of granite tables, high ceilings, tall windows and a beautifully designed curvaceous freestanding bar with exquisite black galaxy granite top. Beneath that striking display of wall art, a row of Bunsen burner-style candelabra anchors a small lounge area with seating pillows along a bamboo bench and a pair of lounge chairs: a little pit of love and fire, the spot where you just know the throngs will cluster once things get under way. Executive Chef Ben Lester, with owner/Chef Claus Schmitz, a German native and veteran of European, American and especially Pacific Rim cuisine offers up such delights as Mosaic Pot Stickers filled with tender suckling pork, Manchego stuffed Quail, Korean BBQ Pork Apple ,Mango Caprese, Flight of Soups & many more. Exceptional food meets exceptional Libations, Fresh fruit Mojitos, Chilling Martini's, and a wealth of experience.

“Excellent experience and a good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

The Mosaic Restaurant in Downtown St. Louis was an outstanding experience. The menu has a nice variety with some unique combinations. You could order a full meal or several "tapas" type items at a reasonable price to make a full meal. As a senior citizen it is nice to to have manageable portions that you can eat without having to get a "to go box," especially when you are traveling on business.

The atmosphere was of a "business casual" type that made it quite enough you could carry on a nice conversation with your dinner partner without distracting music or TV.

The wait staff was attentive and helpful. There was free valet parking available.

“STILL my favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

This last trip to Mosaic was great, as usual. Service was awesome, food was great. I had the seabass, and the fish was super moist all the way through and had a nice citric flavor to it. The veggies that came with were also fantastic. We started off with the soup trio, my favorite being their house special butternut squash soup. SO good. The boy had a broccoli salad that was very yummy. I can't remember his entree' though. I know he said he liked it. Cocktails were good, I just love this place.

“Not For Large Groups”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

For a large group the service was mediocre and the food was presented well but fell short in both proportion and level of warmth.

“On the slide”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

Special occasion lunch. Not a shred of wow factor and food was quite dull. Front of the house were very nice and friendly but a bit untrained. A guess is the kitchen staff are line cooks, definitely no chef in-house.

“Did not feel like a welcomed guest.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had toured the Arch and decided to get a lite late lunch at Mosaic. Our first waitress was replaced by a waiter after some delay, we ordered. I had the Butternut squash soup and the potstickers. The soup was delicious but luke warm. When the potstickers arrived they were less than lukewarm. My husband had the pulled pork burger, which was also on the cool side. We were the only ones in the restaurant. The waiter did return them to the kitchen for replacements and our food was good. Doubt if we would return.
