“The place has Character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

This place is all about the atmosphere. They have a live band playing evenings in an outdoor heated tent. The interior looks a little bit like an old dive bar from the late eighties, as a matter of fact they have old posters of bands that played there during that era. The locals told me it is a blues bar. They do a tremendous gumbo and I tried alligator for the first time ever. The gumbo was excellent, the gator was less impressive although still good and it's worth it to try something different.

“Excellent food, with a Cajun emphasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

This is a unique restaurant with character in St. Louis. It is close to downtown, in an older neighborhood, close to Busch Stadium. The food is delicious, and the bar area has a quaint cozy atmosphere. There is also an adjacent area where bands play, its enclosed in the winter and open in the summer.

“GREAT FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

This was our first visit to one of the hidden jewels in downtown St. Louis! Granted, this is a dive, but a great dive with an eclectic Mardi Gras atmosphere. First, the food was excellent…we had the Crawfish Etoufee (excellent spice level, good amount of crawfish tails), Gumbo Ya Ya (again, excellent spice level with a fair amount of shrimp) and the Muffuletta (as good as the ones sold at the Central Grocery in New Orleans). Besides the food, our other reason for going to this joint was to hear the Soulard Blues Band followin dinner and they were amazing!! Needless to say, this was a great Monday night out in downtown St. Louis.

“Some Place Really Different And A STL Favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

My 1st visits to The Oyster Bar began in the early 1980's. It's still as good. Although this last visit was just for a couple quick drinks with day's end out-of-towner business folks, it was as inviting as any "just walk in neighborhood tavern". The bartender knew all about the their local brews and poured a very nice drink for the money. If you are around the South Side of Downtown St Louis and find yourself thirsty, I'd suggest you stop in. Great food!!!
