“It's the Cheers Bar of St. Louis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2010

We moved to St. Louis from Atlanta in 1998, discovered Pat's a little later, one of our favorite spots, our home away from home, our second kitchen. We go often, once a week, and never disappointed although the experience changes; each time there is always something redeeming. The fried chicken, rib-eye steak sandwich and soups are always on the money (the french onion and chicken pot pie are my favorites). The home-made chips, when they're done right (thin and crisp, sometimes you do have to send them back), are absolutely stellar because of the remoulade sauce on the side.

Occasionally I get the spinach salad, which is to die for, with a dill dressing (secret recipe). The butterflied fried shrimp is an excellent appetizer....large and flavorful.

By the way, forget about going on St. Patrick's day, the parade goes by here and it's insane.

“What a bar should be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2006

Recently visited St. Louis, Dogtown area and stopped into Pat's Bar & Grill. It's everything a bar & grill should be. Parking was easy as it is right across the street from Turtle Park and the Zoo. At lunch time there was everyone from young mother's with kids in strollers, business men in suits and college guys stopping in for a beer. Their "Chicken Fried Chicken" was moist white meat and was very good. Their food was very reasonably priced with specials listed for every day. At the bar, they had a "heavy pour" in large glasses for low prices. Being an Irish Bar, they had some Irish Beers on tap plus the regular American brands. There was a room upstairs with dart board, Golden Tee and pool table but we didn't use any of it. We enjoyed the food so much we came back for Sunday brunch where I ordered a dish that was like Eggs Benedict but instead of Canadian bacon, they used thin tender slices of steak, very good. The $2.00 Bloody Marys were a hit, too.
