I was visiting St Louis on business and my colleague stated he enjoys Mexican food but didn't know where in St Louis to go. After doing an online search I found this place and I was not disappointed. I would go there just for the chips and salsa. The salsa is clearly made onsite and has a robust flavor of roasted chilies. It is thick (like a mole) and very fresh but not too spicy. The tricolor chips are served warm but there are also hand cut sweet potato chips and sweetened pork rinds in the the basket. It makes for a wonderful fusion of colors and flavors. I ordered the special Coconut Orange Rum Shrimp which was served over a bed of rice with fresh Corn Mango salsa. My only complaint would be that the grilled asparagus were HUGE and although seared nicely on the grill, only the tips were edible. The remainder was raw. My colleague ordered the Blackened Fish Tacos and was pleased that they served it with a freshly made slaw. We both found the flavors to be exciting and authentic.
The staff were very friendly. They made sure our drink glasses were never empty and did not act impatient when my colleague was an hour late in arriving. The hostess recommended the sopapillas for desert and they were wonderfully light and fresh, served with vanilla bean ice cream. I cannot wait for my next business trip to St Louis so I can go back and try the next thing on the menu.
