“Clean and Cozey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

Stayed at the Parkway for three days in late March 2012 while visiting Barnes Jewish Hospital. Immediately was greeted by friendly faces. Although I arrived early, they accommodated and found me a clean room. Laundry facility was adequate. Hotel fitness room was modest consisting of a few stationary bikes, ellipticals, leg press and leg curl machine and a rack of dumbbells. There is always popcorn and fresh made chocolate chip cookies. Breakfast is complimentary and very good compared to some of the other complimentary breakfasts out there. There is a free shuttle that will take you to local shopping and sights. The bed was comfortable and I would say above average. The room decor is not chic and some of the furniture looks out of place. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. There is an Applebees on the ground floor and that serves as the hotel restaurant.
What makes this place exceptional is the staff. They seem to be eager to please. That is why I give this place 5 stars.

Visiting Washington University: while this hotel is not on their "preferred" list, it is quite convenient as it is very near the Central West End Metrolink station. We took the Metrolink from the airport, to the hotel, as well as back and forth to Wash U.

Pros: clean, reasonable rate, free popcorn, close to metro. Free shuttle ride to/from restauants. This hotel is in the heart of the healthcare district, and connected to or close to the medical complexes. Free computer/printer for boarding passes in lobby.
Cons: no wi-fi in rooms, only in lobby...but it's free.

Room Tip: 615 has a nice view of the St. Louis arch in the distance

Hello and thank you for taking the time to rate the Parkway Hotel on Trip Advisor. We are extreamly convenient to Washington Unversity, only 2.5 miles (5 Minutes) away. Our complimentary shuttle runs from 6am to 9:15pm and is a convenient and fast way to get to the University. the Metro Link station is out our back door (this is the Central West End stop), this is also very convenient and fast way to get to the University as well. We are happy to read in your review that you had gotten to enjoy some of our freebees. we have our hot breakfast buffet that has rotating items such as our breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches and more.

WI-FI in guestrooms is a BIG YES: For free WI-FI, we do have WI-FI on floors 7 and 8 which is our VIP Level. Our VIP Level is beautiful, with plush terry robes to use while you are our guest, snack basket that includes bottled waters, make up mirror, 32" flat panel screen TV and upgraded bedding.

We look forward to having you as our guest again and remember to ask for our VIP Level when making your next reservation. OUR VIP Level is also VERY AFFORDABLE. Thanks again for your review. :O)

I had an extended stay at the Parkway in late January because of my husband's surgery at Barnes Hospital. My room was spacious, comfortable, modern and very well maintained. The hotel also features outstanding and affordable room service from the Applebee's Restaurant onsite. The breakfast was nice and there were delicious complimentary chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon. Because my husband had complications, I had to continue to extend my stay 1-2 days at a time and the staff was very accommodating. It was a relief to be able to concentrate on my husband's recovery rather than commute each day and the quiet of my room was welcome after long and arduous days sitting in the ICU at the hospital. I plan to return to the Parkway later this summer when my husband has to have additional surgery. Many thanks to all the staff!

Room Tip: There are discounts for families whose loved ones are receiving treatment at Barnes.

My husband, Minature Schnauzer and I were booked for 3 days of pre surgery tests and doctor appointments at Barnes Jewish Hospital (connected to the Parkway by an enclosed walkway), but found out my husband needed immediate surgery.. The staff was wonderful. They were friendly, helpful, and in lots of ways supportive in the 2 days before the surgery. Following the surgery it was determined my husband needed an additional surgery 2 days after the first. The Parkway continued to be my home away from home and in some ways my family in a stressful situation. The shuttle was a wonderful bonus. It became necessary to fill some new perscriptions for my husband and the shuttle was there to get me to a pharmacy, as well as taking us to appointments and the therapy sessions that were not in the attached buildings. We plan 2 more trips for doctor follow up and more surgery. We would not think of staying anywhere else. The refridgerator, microwave and TV dinners in the gift shop made taking care of a patient so much easier. Free breakfast, coffee and tea bar with fresh fruit, popcorn and cookies by the fireplace just added to the home away from home feel. It was a hard 15 days, but made more tolerable by a wonderful, understanding staff and a comfortable room.

Room Tip: There are rooms if you have a dog with you and there were several service dogs since it was so close...

This hotel is especially great if your going to Barnes or Childrens Hospital. The hotel is connected to the hospital via a raised walkway. They offer a special hospital rate as well. The hotel itself is top notch. Rooms are modern, spacious, comfortable and well maintained. We arrived earlier than the check in time and the front desk and housekeeping staff went way out of their way to get us into a room early. Most appreciated! The hotel offers a complimentary hot breakfast each morning which included eggs, breakfast meats, muffins, toast, cereal, bisquits and gravy, juices and coffee which was pretty good. I had to change my check out dates three times and they were most accommadating. I have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel and staff. Highly recommended.

The Parkway is not only the most convenient location for Barnes Hospital patients or visitors but the staff is likely the most sensitive to the needs of their guests associated with a medical visit. All of the hotel staff we interfaced with were familiar and helpful with giving directions, making recommendations for transportation, food, etc. Also, the hotel offers free shuttle service for hospital patients which was very helpful with our group. The morning breakfast spread offered many choices and the 'home-made' cookies in the afternoon were something we looked forward to at the end of the day. In addition, this location is only a block away from the West End, a nice neighborhood shopping/eating/bar district that provides many alternatives to hospital/chain food. We will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: If you are in town for a Barnes hospital visit or procedure, make sure to mention that when making a...

Parkway Hotel is a great place to stay if you have a family member at Childrens or Barnes hospital. This hotel connects from inside both hospitals and they have super rates for families. The staff from the front desk, to security to housekeeping were all A++++++! Also an Applebees resturant on the main floor of hotel. Breakfast was free and delicious.:-) Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor connects to the hospitals.
