After a very long, tiring day of playing around at the City Museum along with some friends, we settled on the Tap Room because it was late, they were still open and our friends had been before. We sat on the dining side (as opposed to the bar) and right above us was the reception hall, which was hosting a wedding reception. Most of the music you could hear clear enough to make out the songs and the noise from all those people dancing was a nuisance. The wood was creaking very loudly and the lights, windows, & floor were shaking. It sounded like stampeding cattle on a wood floor. It was so loud at times, we couldn't even hear the people talking at the next table.
The place itself is fairly kid friendly, but the menu is NOT. I know what many might think...don't go to a restaurant owned by a brewery expecting kid friendly. But it would've been nice to see at least a few items that fit a child's tastes better, because even the burger here has its own unique take.
I ordered my burger medium rare and it came out quite rare. I should've sent it back, but we hadn't eaten all day, so I was hungry enough not to want to wait anymore. It had a good taste to it, but I really should've sent it back to be cooked correctly to my specifications. The fries were very good, but the portion was small and I ended up getting what looked like the bottom of a batch.
We probably wouldn't come here again unless friends wanted to and even then, we wouldn't return with our kid. Our waiter was friendly & attentive. The prices are a bit on the high side. I rank the atmosphere low because of all the noise coming from the hall above.
