“Enjoyable Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We stayed at this hotel for one night during our route 66 road trip. We chose this hotel due to its central location and because we were going to watch a Cardinals game, which was within walking distance. Our room had two double beds, so was fairly large and overlooked the Arch. One complaint would be that the air conditioning unit was rather noisy.

The breakfast was free and was adequate although there was not that much to choose from.

You have to pay for car parking which is $14.00 per night. I know this is not that much, but this was the only hotel I stayed in where you had to pay.

Dear tabayley,

Thank you for staying with us fellow Cards fan! I hope it was a nice evening for a walk to Busch Stadium (and, I hope, they WON)!! I apologize for the noisy AC unit. They are individual units and are louder than our central AC's that we are used to. We try to offer many selections in breakfast and Hampton is always improving that amenity. Also, please note, that all downtown properties charge for parking and our rate is one of the lowest. We do hope that you will return and take in another game or visit some of the other attractions.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn on our 3rd night during our 48 day west trip. I really liked the hotel but I bumped it down a star only because it sits close to a busy area and the traffic is hectic and crazy. But, I do have to say it was extremely quiet in the hotel and our room.

The parking garage is a bit tight for parking but the elevator is nearby to take you too your room.
It is very easy to walk to the Gateway Arch but is about 1 mile away. Nice walk down the city street though.

We got a king room with a view of the Arch from our window. Quite satisfied with that. They had like a banquet room for the breakfast and it was exceptionally good.

It is one of the better priced hotels for St. Louis for walking distance to the Arch so I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask to be on a higher floor if possible. We paid a few bucks more for a view. I attached a pic of...

Dear thesteevesgroup,

We appreciate you staying with us and leaving comments & feedback in TripAdvisor. St. Louis is a busy Metropolis, especially in the summer! There is so much to do and see and we do reside in a great location to take it all in. I have to agree with you on the parking garage being a little tight, but as you mentioned, it is "on-site". We have 3 levels of parking; they connect to the hotel with elevator access on each landing. We await your return and will serve up On the House Hot Breakfast with a friendly Hampton smile.

I have used this hotel many times when traveling to my corporate office in St. Louis, MO. The staff are very pleasant and the rooms are really clean. The closeness to many restaurants in walking distance is also a great benefit.

Very clean, very friendly! Hot breakfast, waffles, fruit, eggs & more! Breakfast to go bags if needed. Beds VERY comfortable! Excellent staff. Was in town for a VERY large Convention/Reunion (Scentsy Family) & many of us stayed here. Heard no complaints. If ever in St Louis, this is the place to be/stay! Had corner room on 7th floor with amazing view of the Arch. Fresh coffee/tea/hot water in lobby 24/7. Close to everything!

We stay here each time we come to a Cardinals game. We actually stayed here 6 nights this time, due to my Scentsy reunion going on. Great hotel, found many near places to eat, etc. Staff is great also.

Dear deniseiowa,

Thank you for continuing to stay with us, especially for the important Cardinal Games! We also loved having the Scentsy convention in town. I am glad that you got to combine the two events. There are, I'm sure, some St. Louis favorites that you couldn't fit it on this last visit. Hurry back! Leslie Varney

Just finishing up a 6 night stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown St. Louis. Very pleasant stay. The staff was friendly & accommodating. We had 2 separate reservations & the front desk staff made sure we could stay in the same room for our entire stay. As with all Hampton Inns, internet is free & breakfast is included. Breakfast may not have been the greatest but it was at a minimum okay especially for the price. Breakfast staff did a great job in cleaning tables quickly between guests & kept food replenished. We started on the 17th (top) floor but the front desk moved us to the 12th floor as there was a bachelor party group next door to us & staff didn't want us to be disturbed. We were not on the Arch View side but did have a nice view of the river. The connected restaurant, Tigin Irish Pub was good too & we were able to simply charge meals to our room. We had no issues with elevators at all. We were in town for a convention & the Hampton Inn was one of the convention hotels. Hotel was full but no issue with service. All in all, a pleasant stay. Would stay here again when in St. Louis.

Room Tip: Higher floors will give you a better view. Pool & exercise room is on the 5th floor.

Dear Steve98686,

Thank you for staying with us and leaving a review in TripAdvisor. Were you here for the Scentsy Convention? We are thrilled that we exceeded your expectations. We are here to serve! We are always making improvements / changes / additions / deletions to our Breakfast Buffet. I understand that you will be back and, hopefully, breakfast will be better! But as you mentioned, it is included in our rates. Make sure that you ask for a "room with a view" when making your next reservation.

We could see the Arch from our hotel room. The hotel lobby was clean and comfortable as was our hotel room. The toilet did make a whooshing noise which I forgot to mention to staff. The breakfast was warm and plentiful and replenished often. My one suggestion would be to have an apple slicer available for guests. The ice machine on our floor was not working so we had to walk down for ice.

You absolutely can walk to the Arch from this hotel.

Room Tip: Our hotel was room 600 which is not too far from the elevator, close to stairs and vending. It was q...

Dear 2BOYSMOM44,

It sounds like you enjoyed your Arch view room - awesome! Nice to hear that you experienced our large public spaces and that the cleanliness, of our property, met your expectations. We strive for friendliness and cleanliness. When you stay again, please bring any issue to the Front Desk's attention. We guarantee to make it right. In fact, we have already brought the suggestion for the apple slicer to the "powers that be". We are working on getting something that will safely cut the apples in breakfast. Thank you for staying here and supplying valid feedback. Leslie Varney
