Many of the most important citizens of the historic city of St. Louis are buried in this very large and well-maintained park. We visited on a beautiful fall day so as to photograph both some of the important graves and the magnificent trees.
Don't travel alone, and go only during broadest daylight. It's a beautiful park, with some historical graves well worth seeing if you're into that kind of thing. The nearby streets have a lot of gang activity, however, so beware.
An incredable place to visit so much history! Again the neighborhood is not too great, visit when the sun shines bright!
Before you go, do a little research on-line. You can search for people and find out where their graves are using the cemetery's on-line search. To have some preset markers, it is much more interesting. The architecture is beautiful. The drive through gives you a real tour through St. Louis history.
WOW what a cemetery. Rich in history, beautiful works of art for monuments, and rolling hills to walk and enjoy. This cemetery offers an excellent look in the past of St. Louis history and a who's who's in St. Louis. You can easily spend a couple of hours walking around, looking at the different monuments and just enjoying all the history.
A must see if you are a history buff!
